Rowie-the-Pooh Posted June 10, 2003 Author Posted June 10, 2003 Thank you all! :D I've taken "naked" pics today for you all! Mind you Rowie didn't like it! I'll call the vet and ask her, not today cuz it's late! Tomorow after school I will and tell you all as soon as I come back... :D I was so happy! I HUGGED the Frontline! All my stress, it just, dissapeared! :o I was so happy! Then at home, I read the insrtuctions a few times, then applied it. Rowie's still in the Swimming Pool bathroom  but I went out and played with her alot today, plus she has her two walks to look forward to. :D Oh, and I also parted Rowie's fur and took pics of the YUCKY ticks for you all, to show you how yucky it was! When my scanner is fixed tho... Thank you all for your support! I love you all so much! I couldn't have done all this without you! :D Your such kind, wonderful people! It makes me teary eyed just thinking about all your support... Thank you all again! I guess it's time you got your treat eh? I'll make sure our scanner is working so I can show you pics just for you guys! :D I'll make SURE my mom takes care of it... :) I love you all! :D Quote
Angelboddy Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 I'm not to sure about seeing pictures of the ticks :confused1: I think i would rather just know that they are no longer there. Besides i've seen enough ticks while volenteering at our humane society. My reward is knowing that you and your Rowie is happy and clean from ticks. I don't mind seeing a naked picture of him but you must promise to show a picture of that handsome boy when his coat is all grown out and silky. :D Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted June 10, 2003 Author Posted June 10, 2003 Ok then, I'll make the tick pic a link, so that people who don't want to see it don't hafto.. :D Thank you so much for caring Angel! I'm sure Rowie feels the love and caring from all of you... Well, she's sleeping right now the little  ! I just checked up on her..my baby! Hmmm, wait, you could say she's an angel with a dirty face! (Got that from a song). Not that her face is dirty, it's just that she's sometimes an angel, and then she's suddenly this: :evilbat:  One thing that still mystifies(sp?) me. Rowie is a Golden as all of you know. You all know Glodens are GREAT and VERY patient with kids. Sadly, Rowie's previouse owner got her when she was a MONTH old! :o That's why she nips, and is overly hyper and destructive. She never had alot of socialization, I'm slowly helping her... :D Anyways, Rowie was SOOOO hyper when we got to the vets, and there was this little girl of about 5, she was the cutest little angel! Anyways, she had two kittens there, and when she was Rowie, went up to say hello. Now Rowie was VERY hyper, and I was scared she might jump on the girl and frighten her. When the giril came, she sat down next to Rowie and started petting her. Now, Rowie suddenly went from an overly hyper puppy, to a mature, quiet dog. I was soooo surprised! I mean, she always does that, but everytime I see her do that, it warms up my heart. Then Rowie gave her her paw ( typical ) and started licking her face! Awww! Then I said:"Good Girl Rowie" and the girl intoduced me to her two kittens rescued from the BSPCA(Bahrain Society of Preventation of Cruelty to Animals). It made me smile knowing that such a young girl was already adopting from a rescue... :D Quote
Angelboddy Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 That is a great thing to know Rowie. And i am soooo proud of your dog Rowie. He has come a long way. I am so proud of that little girl to. Thanks for sharing that story with us. Oh, and i really appriciate you making a link to see the ticks. I'm not to fond of bugs, but if it comes down to it, I will pick as many ticks off of puppy and dogs just so they can be put up for adoption. imported_Cassie Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 I am so sorry for all you have been through. It can be hard to deal with the rough parts of life...  As for the ticks, with your new Vet it sounds as if things are under control. Just keep checking Rowie daily...keep up with the frontline...etc. Good Luck Quote
Daisysmom Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 Rowie, I'm so sorry to hear about everything you have been through. The vet you were talking about sounds really primative to me. She gave you medication without labels????? I have never heard of that  Maybe you should call someone about her credentials.......... report her! :x Maybe she is a fake :o Quote
courtnek Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Rowie, I am going to HATE myself for saying this, because I deplore breed standards and the expectations it sets with people, but, Goldens, AS A GENERAL RULE (capitalized on purpose) like people. It's how they got the breed standard of "good with children"...it's not that they like children better than any other dog, but they want to PLEASE. In a household where they are well cared for, trained, dominated properly, they will tolerate children and love them. It's what their owner expects, and they want to please. My Golden would let kids pull his ears, tug his tail, sit on his back...when he got tired of their company he would escape to the basement and hide under the pool table. But he was also socialized by the breeder early on. He was breeding specific pups for use at the Seeing Eye, and they started socializing as soon as their eyes opened. They make lousy "guard dogs" - these are the dogs that you hear all the jokes about giving away the silverware in return for a kiss.... Everytime Rowie shows the "kid instinct", praise her. Make her feel comfortable that being around children is ok and NEVER let a child tease or torment her. Yell at the kid if you have to (I yell at my kids friends all the time when they jack with my dog - she's a lab mix) Her breeding for tolerance will take hold if she is not abused or harshly treated, and after time, you will be able to let some neighborhood kid (strong enough) walk her without worrying about it. They are GREAT dogs, when trained and treated properly. and YOU treat her VERY well, I might add... :D Love to both of you!! Quote
Malamum Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I'm a bit late in on this thead but just wanted to say I am sorry you had to go through such a rough time :( Sounds like things are picking up for you though, which is great. The first vet sounds like an absolute idiot and I am so glad you found the second better one. Stick with her. It's also great news that you can get Frontline. It's what I use on Indy and he has only ever had one tick. Remember, although it covers both flees and ticks it guards against flees for a month but only against ticks for two weeks, so you will need to apply it every fortnight. We will all keep our fingers crossed that this is the last of the ticks for Rowie. Good luck - Rowie is lucky to have you. Quote
Bubblezzz Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Hi! My well-wishes are a little late too, but I'm glad that Rowie now has Frontline! It works wonders for us. :) :BIG: The first vet you got seems like a real idiot. I'm glad you found someone better! Whoever ever heard of medicine without labels??!!! Keeping our fingers and paws crossed for Rowie and you... Go Rowie!!! Go Frontline!!! :Dog_run: Quote

She's a wonderful doggie she is... :D Malamum: Thanks! On ym box of Frontline it says I need to apply it only once a month? Should I apply every two weeks? thanks! Thank you all for your comments!
