Lemon-dog Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I have been on another dog board today and read a long thread on Staffie and one person on there said and this i copy and pasted of that board to here. The said thread has now been locked ,i don't own a staffie but i do know a few and they play and run around with my 2 GSD and my Jacks ,1 of my jack is a pup and they are so gental .I say punish the owner don't condem the breed ,how petty and small minded can you get . I have been bitten by a few dog with fostering and working with dog but the only dog that has done any damage was a little sheltie but she was frightened and i don't hate her or her breed for it. Tracy&gang Sorry just had to get it of my Chest [quote]I think all stafs and any other dangerous dogs should be shot at birth. They are bred to be evil and that is what they are.I have never come across a nice one.People only keep them so they can make other people feel insecure.Evil things.Children are far more important than some dog,how would you feel if YOUR child was attacked by one????? . Barbiro Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Lemon-dog, just disregard what they wrote. The person is just generalizing and stating a sick opinion. There are no bad dogs, just bad breeders/owners. Quote

Just ignore him/her! Awww! Don't stay too sad, you know you can always talk about Staffies here and know you'll get positive answers(specially from K)! Quote

Don't all pass judgment so soon, unless you've walked a mile in another persons shoes. Yes this person is being unfair and outrageous, BUT, read between the lines. This person is mentioning Children, obviously something has happened to make this person feel this way. Maybe a child was injured badly ........ We don't know and cannot therefore make heinous judgements, otherwise we are no better than she........ Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 When people make general harsh statements like they they are more often than not trying to incite something(trolling for a fight). Dont sweat it as just be glad that the individual has no say on the rest of the world actions. For every crack-pot that thinks all "dangerous-breed" dogs should be put down there are man more who know the truth. When you meet people like that they have never actually met a bull breed so there extent of knowledge is bases solely on what they see on TV.... see why they hate them. If all you ever saw was attack, attack, vicious dog, attack, then you would be lead to believe something similar. But upon actually meeting a bull breed dog or just talking to a RESPONSIBLE bull or dangerous breed owner, they find that there are far more well behaved dogs than there are mean ones. Dont sweat the small stuff, and try to educate who you can. that my motto :black: Quote
Barbiro Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I returned here to add something, but Rowie said the same thing -- thanks Rowie :P I agree, this is probably just some troll trying to work things up at your board. What a mean thing to say! Just ignore him/her! Quote
meehs Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 UNBELEIVABLE! I don't even know what to say... That person clearly has absolutley NO idea what they're talking about! It would be more beneficial to shoot ignorant people like that at birth. This person is definitely from the shallow end of the gene pool! Quote
LisaLQ Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Hi Lemon dog, I know which board and I know which person. I believe she has mentionned in the past her child was bitten by a dog, but I think it was her own, not sure. I think she has a little bit of a grudge with the forum too, as it seems as if she had some impolite things to say about dogs needing homes there too, saying she gave up trying to adopt one, and would rather buy one. Why she remains on a dog rescue site if she has no intention of rescuing a dog, I dont know :o Best to ignore - please dont think the site feel as she does, if you read the replies, you'll see they were just as shocked as you were  Lisa xx Quote

Angelboddy Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Don't feel bad, some people can be sooooo rude! I got those kind of things at another board to, but after coming here i never went back. I love you guys soooo much, :calus: And i'm soooo glad i found you. You don't need them other boards, you have us! :D Quote
ellieangel Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Try not to let it bother you Lemon-dog especially if others are backing the breed. :-? Remember it's only one persons' opinion, and if their child had been bitten by a GSD they may feel like that about them, try not to let it bother you ..I am like you a terrible worrier  Quote
IYPChrissie Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Everyone has made some good points...It is sad how small minded some people can be. Just remember, their are more of US then her.  Quote
courtnek Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 you can quote this there if you like Lemon Define "dangerous dog"..... ANY and EVERY dog can be dangerous, if not trained, brought up, and treated properly. Poodles are dangerous, Chihauhau's are dangerous, EVERY dog is dangerous under certain conditions. It is the owners responsibility to make sure their dog is trained and raised correctly. Would I choose a dog over my child? no. But I make certain my dog knows who is the boss, so my child is not in danger. When young, he was never left alone with either of the dogs we had. Now he is old enough to make the dog obey him, and there are no issues. Anyone who leaves a young child alone with a dog, ANY dog, including the "loving family dogs" like Goldens and Labs, is responsible for what happens to that child. Bully's, Staffs, Shepherd's, Rotts...they are all "dangerous"...like every other dog on the planet. They are no MORE dangerous than any other dog; f trained properly, and BRED properly, they make wonderful family companions. It is up to the OWNER to make sure that he both understands the nature of his dog, and that he takes the steps necessary to insure that his dog is trained properly, and properly cared for. It's commentary like yours that gives all these animals undeserved bad names. Bottom line, some people simply should not own certain dogs. As far as "dangerous dogs needing to be shot at birth", The lovable neighborhood "family dog" Golden Retriever here bit off half of a childs face.....he is now permanently scarred for life. Are you going to demand that all Goldens be shot at birth, too????? You cant decide on "good" or "bad" dependant on breed. or breed specifics. And I have nothing at all against Goldens. I owned one for 13 years, and have had a number of labs as well. It's not the breed, it's the people raising the dog..... Quote
Malamum Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Well said Courtnek!! There are just too many people out there who have a serious lack of common sense. Quote
Lemon-dog Posted June 4, 2003 Author Posted June 4, 2003 I feel happier to know that not ever one is like this person. LisaQ i can understand that she maybe upset if her child was bitten by a staffie but why condem all staffie ,my eldest son Robert is 14 and was bitten by he friends Gsd (it was pts ,not first time it had bitten) and we have 2 Gsd if i was like this person i would have put them to sleep but i don't condem the breed .Tracy&gangxx Quote
LisaLQ Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Ohh no I didn't mean that, someone else said that I think. I just confirmed that I had read her child had been bitten by a dog, unsure if it was a staffy or not. I dont think anyone should condemn a breed for one dogs actions at all, you are totally right  Quote
