In a few weeks we are having a party for my b/f's 30th birthday but I don't think it's a good idea for Indy to stay home that night (we have about 50 people coming and he will just get too hyper) so he is going to have a sleep over at my parents place. I feel mean - like he is being banished or something :( especially since mum and dad are going to be at the party and won't be home most of the night.

Kiwi, my b/f's B'day is on the 12th.

I don't feel mean about him sleeping over at my parents, he goes there all the time so has no issues with being left there. I kind of feel mean for making him miss out on the celebration though.

It sounds silly but he is part of our family so I feel that he should be part of the party too and not be left out :(

Well, bring him back a little early and save him a small piece of cake!!! I know you shouldn't give your dog cake, but for special affairs, I give in!! I consider them part of the family too :bday:

He'll be ok Malamum - it's not a good idea to let him get all wound up with the big noise of a party, they dont like noise, and may respond badly to some of the guests. If he's used to being at your mom's, then this wont hurt him at all. .

My malamute didnt like parties, or noise, and we had to put him in the basement when people were over. I always wished I had somewhere to take him.....

Have fun!! Happy B-day to your B/F!!

I was thinking of keeping him confined to a seperate section of the house but he HATES to miss out on anything and boy can he howl and carry on when he thinks he is.

Mum and Dad's really is the best place for him.
