Guest Anonymous Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 We had Chaos's stiches removed yesterday from when she was spayed, and now she has a lump where the scar is. It dosen't seem to be bothering her and it's not red. She has an appointment at the vet in a fewdays, but I was wondering if anyone here might know what it is. it took about an hour after she got her stitches removed for it to swell up. I don't think its an infection. Quote
courtnek Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 could just be some air trapped under the scar. Freebee had one too. As long as it doesnt get red, oozes or she starts licking or nibbling at it, it's probably ok. Just keep an eye on it. If it shows any of the above symptoms, then call the vet. :D Quote
sheltielover Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 When both my girls were spayed they had lumps show up. I was told it was just some scare tissue and that it would go away...and it did. :) Quote
courtnek Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 This reminds me of a story - my first dog was a Golden - never been introduced to cats, so the first time he met my X's cat he was cool with him, until the cat stuck his head in the dogs bowl while he was eating. Taurus (the dog) snapped at him, and nicked him through the roof of his mouth. It was bleeding so we took him to the vet. It required two stiches and they sent him home. over the next day or so, Isis (the cat) developed an air bubble on the top of his head. Apparently as the cat breathed in, some of the air was getting through the nip in his mouth and forming under his skin on the top of his head!! He had a cushion up there!! The vet said as soon as the nip healed it would go away, and it did, but did he look funny with this pillow on top of his head. And BOY, did he ever get even with Taurus! He would wait until Taurus approached him, then nip him on the nose. After a few consecutive incidents, Taurus gave up and "rolled over". They soon became best friends and remained that way until, and after, Taurus died. I have a picture of both of them, cat laying next to Taurus and Taurus with his "arm" around Isis' back...too cute. Holz_Boomer Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Best Wishes To Chaos! Though Cookie :o  Are You Aloud On The Internet At School..? Or did u sneak on? We're not.. but im sneaky! Quote
abker17 Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 We used to be allowed to go where ever we wanted to online at school, but now they've changed the rules. It totally sucks! :-? When I get home from shool I have tons of posts to check. Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Were allowed on the internet when the teacher is there. She'll take us to the 'computer lab' (fancy term for room full of computers) to research projects. i was suppossed to be researching something for a history project, but decided to sneak on Dogo. Not that the teacher even looks at us so it wasen't that hard. Whats really funny is that there is this HUGE sign in the room that say NO CHAT, NO EMAIL, NO GAMES. Oh well, dogo isen't a chat room anyway its a forum! Anyway were gonna take Chaos into the vet tomorrow just to to look at the lump, and the good part is it won't cost anything if the vet just has a quick look. he's a really great vet and only charges patients when he has to. mouseatthebusstop Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Let us know how you get on :) I think she will be fine so don't worry :) Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Turns out it was fluid that had collected under the scar. Apparently it usually happens to large very active dogs, which is weird cause Chaos is only 30 pounds. Anyway the vet said it should go away in about a month or so. Quote
pei obssessed Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Lucky Chaos, that's exactly what Hippo had too. And she was 30lb when she was spayed. As for active... after the first 2 days, it was impossible to keep her from jumping on and off the couch and running in circles through the apartment while destroying all her toys. She couldn't go to the park to run off-leash, so for about a month she raised hell in the house instead. So no wonder she had a fluid pocket that looked like it took forever to go away. But it did :) If Chaos is as bad, that would explain it  Quote
