Kiger Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Anyone want a slightly used Shiba? He's been so good until now - he was wondering why I wasn't so happy to see him when I got home. Then he comes over and lays down next to me to chew on one of his MANY chewies. BRAT! I sprayed all the sills with Bitter Apple. I hope he gets a whole mouthful of it. Quote
Kiger Posted May 22, 2003 Author Posted May 22, 2003 ROFL No, but I have chinchillas. They would most likely eat him though. How do you replace windowsills anyway? Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 WHAT ABOUT A PHOTO OF THE DAMAGE? IF IT IS ONLY A FEW HOLES FILL THEM IN WITH PLASTIC WOOD Quote
Rosebud Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003   I know it's not funny right now, but Sally did the same thing to my bay window in the kitchen, she chewed the corners off of every sill. We puttyed the sill, cut the corners off and repainted it. Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Sand them out, then paint them and if anyone asks, just tell them it was done by a your home decorator... that's what I did to mine  Quote
Rosebud Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 :D Are they salvagable at all, could you sand them where they look pretty and maybe use a little putty. Quote
StarFox Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Maybe he is part termite.... I agree with gooey-sand them, paint them and if anyone askes just tell them it's a new design and it's all the rage. who knows maybe you'll start some kind of weird trend/ :D Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 I can sympathize. I wanted to strangle my Penny when I came home to this. She was "digging" out to get to a squirrel. What we PLAN to do (eventually  ) is just pry up all the sheet rock down to the bare wood and install ceramic tiles. The kind I'm looking at look like a random "design" with stones, but nearly any of the smaller ceramic tile will do. I don't think she'll be tearing THAT up. It's all prefab stuff (cut to size) from Lowe's (they have similar stuff at Home Depot). Once it's sized, all we should have to do is lay it out and glue (or whatever) it down. It doesn't look like it'll be too hard to do. I'll be sure to let you know. :-? Oh, and we will also be installing a decorative "gate" across the bottom portion of the window where we can open and close it as we wish. Just to blockade it off when we want to. It will be nice to not have to mop snark off my windows (see photo below) every day. :-? Here's the damage and the guilty party. Quote
Daisysmom Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Can you put a nice piece of moulding on top or a thin layer of wood like luanne (sp) Quote
Kiger Posted May 23, 2003 Author Posted May 23, 2003 Aw Horsefeathers, she looks like she knows she was bad - unlike "The Beave" as we've taken to calling him. He was banished to the x-pen this morning, but he seemed oblivious about it and was busy playing with his buster cube. Matt wants to pull out all the sills anyway and replace them with oak stained the same color as the floor. I wouldn't let him do it earlier because the house was new. I bet he smeared them with liver or something because the dog has this uncanny knack for chewing up stuff he'd like to get rid of. :o Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Ohh! Ohh! I want him! **waves hand in the air** Please! Please! :D K napisał(a):You dont have gerbils do you??? :o after Tara ate the windowsills she then ate through a rung on the wooden stairs and then she ate my gerbils! :o :o :o :o She She ATE your Gerbils?? :o :o :o Quote
Mary's Mama Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 I couldn't believe it. I got home last night and my husband says "Look what your precious baby did..." and showed me the corner of the window sill nicely chewed by cute little puppy teeth :o Tell Kato to stop encouraging the rest of them!! Quote

Ewww. :smhair2: Lhiannon Sidhe did that with a little green lizard that was on the porch. I showed it to her thinking she would chase it. Instead she picked it up and started crunching before I could stop her.Crazy dogs. Rocket did that to a frog. Him and the frog were having a stare contest about the time Rocket opened his mouth to get the frog the frog jumped and landed right in his mouth and he started chomping. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 The Frog JUMPED in his mouth?! :o STUPID FROG!!!  LMFAO Omg! hahaha, oh that's funny! Sad. But funny! If the frog was that dumb, I don't think it woulda lasted much longer anyway :o   Ah, can't stop laughing. Quote
Rosebud Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003    Yea Shara I saw it happen it was one of those priceless moments where you wished you kept the camera on them 100% of the time. Then of course I freaked since frogs can be deadly poisonous and I don't know which ones are. Last year I had a problem with frogs on the back porch, Sally & Rocket would whine to go out and chase/eat them. Quote
Kiger Posted May 24, 2003 Author Posted May 24, 2003 It obviously was a frog with "issues" and therefore commited suicide. :stupid: Quote

primabella Posted May 24, 2003 Posted May 24, 2003 Mickey pulled that one on us awhile back but we were able to stop him before he got really into it. I was so mad, I knew my dad was gonna kill him. But then he just looks up at you like  and you practically put him back up so he can finish it off. Kiger, your Shiba is absolutly adorable!! Got any other pictures of him? :iloveyou: Quote
courtnek Posted May 24, 2003 Posted May 24, 2003 Freebee tried to dig through the floor when she was young, and we couldnt figure out why until I was down in the basement and an alarm on a wristwatch went off - it's one of those beepy things - and I heard her trying to dig again. She thought something was down there, and was trying to dig down to it. Once I got rid of the watch, she never did it again. Maybe your pupster heard something, either outside or in the walls, that needed investigating. You dont maybe have mice in te walls, do you? I have heard of dogs eating through windowsills and walls to get at mice in there kinda like K's gerbils.... Quote
Kiger Posted May 25, 2003 Author Posted May 25, 2003 He knows when I come home so he waits by the window and looks out. He gets a little bored and decides to have a chew. To make it worse, he only chewed one corner of each. Instead of just destroying one sill, he took them both out. Quote
