StarFox Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 I noticed that for the last month or so everytime zebra runs fast he always falls...like his back legs give out. He only falls on his back side and his front feet never give out. He's not in pain when this happens because he just gets right back up and starts to run around again. So I was wondering if that was just a clumsy puppy thing or if I should be worried about it? Sorry about all the questions lately. But it's my first dog and I just want to make sure i'm doing all the right things. Quote
alicat613 Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Well its hard to say without seeing it. Does it appear that he just loses his footing on the grass? My dog does that, he turns so tightly and quickly sometimes he goes flying, and that is perfectly normal (although I wish he'd be more careful!). Or is it more a loss of control of his back end? This could signify a more complex problem such as varying degrees of hip dysplasia or even spinal problems such as Wobblers. Quote
primabella Posted May 25, 2003 Posted May 25, 2003 Mickey does this but his front legs give out. Hold old is your dog? Mickey is now 7 months and doesn't do it much anymore. Sometimes when he is taking his fast sprints, he'll take those quick turns and sometimes his back legs will give out too. I don't worry about it much anymore because it hasn't happened as much as it did before so I see it as a puppy thing. I could be wrong though. Quote
StarFox Posted May 26, 2003 Author Posted May 26, 2003 I think it might just be a clumsy puppy thing...He makes very tight turns so I think he just looses his footing..but it looks horrible when he does it. But he dosn't seem to mind.. Quote
