I'm always picking the sleep out of my dogs eyes. Then I do it to my sister's dog and my mum's dog. My sister says it's disgusting. :D :D

But I've really gone over the top now. On my rounds I really get to know my customers' dogs and love nearly all of them (not the ones that bit me) Anyway the other day I went to this house I'd never been to before. As the lady opened the door a big Alsatian came lumbering up, I started stroking him and before I realised it I was picking the sleep from his eyes.   I didn't even know the dog, it's a good job he liked it and decided not to bite me, but I have got to stop this compulsive behaviour. :D :D :D

LOL! :D I do that too Marion!

I try to do it on Blackie, my cuzins dog, but he's so gross, and his is like glue too! The problem is my cuzin never takes his sleep out of his eye, so for the past year it's been building up, and I'm scared he might get an eye infection... :-?

 yes i`m guilty too  I do it to all 4 of mine, but Joe (yorkie terrier) his is that rally yukky gooey stuff that sticks like glue, so i do his with warm damp cotton wool, but the other 3 dogs have normal sleep in their eyes so i just pick it out to the disgust of my kids and hubby

Can you come do my dog? Every morning when he wakes up he has this big wad in the corner of each eye. There is a ton and it's still wet mucus. He hates when I do it and it's a struggle every morning in the bathroom. Some mornings there is so much in there I cant believe it. He's fine the rest of the day though. I never clean it out with my fingers just toilet paper or a clenex or something.

He should have it cleaned on a regular basis to prevent build up and eye infections. You can get wipes and eye lotion from the Pet Shop!

Shannon, this is not my dog but my cuzins dog...she doesn't really care for the poor fella.. His coat is matted, and his EYES! :o Urgh! :o Puke Smiley please!

I feel sorry for him tho, the only command he knows is "Sit" and will ONLY remember it when you have a treat. PLUS he's not neutred!

Marion- I do that to my pup too! and I have clean my rabbits eyes. My mom thinks it desgusting and she says it's a weird obsession. :P But if I don't do it no one else will.

Rowie- I know what you mean. My best freind has a dog and no one takes care of the poor thing. It's not spayed and has NO training. and when I asked why her family hasn't spayed the dog yet she told me that "it's not a top priority." :x Makes me sooo mad!

:D

If I don't clean the sleepy out of Sally's eyes she wipes her face on my shirt and does it herself. All the babies love for me to keep their eyes clean for them; I never see cleaning it off of each other and really don't blame them.

I realise the dog is your cousins hun :) she or her parents should get the poor dog sorted out, its not nice leaving a dog in that state...its cruel.
I recently clipped Patch to keep his coat tidy and matt free....he feels so much better for it :)
I cannot understand why some people don't get there dogs neutered, its the kindest way for a dog to have a much more healthier life, preventing problems that could occure (like cancer) later on!
It also helps the dominance behaviour around other dogs.
Many places do it for free or for a little donation towards the dog and cats care and its over within a few hours!
There had been times when I wanted to catch this one tom cat who kept fighting with one of mine and take to have it neutered, but the youngest of my male cats dealt with him scaring him off.....well this tom cat hadn't been seen for weeks since so we thought the owners had given it away......few months later the cat turns up and hasn't fought since!
We think our youngest had given him a beating for picking on our eldest male!!

Casper our black and white male is the one who fought him off....he hated that cat. He was always picking on the eldest male of our's Merlin
I think they are all best of friends since the owners had him neutered :)
Merlin my tabby lying next to Charlie in the garden.

Its freaks me out when people have pets and say (I can't have this or that done, its too expensive) :x Why have pets then if they can't be bothered to spend a bit of money on them.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Would they treat there children like that (No they would not)
and what short life dogs and cats have I think its worth pampering and making them happy!
