Hi Jen, vets have just contacted me. Rosie HAS got a underactive thryoid. I'm just going to pick her medication up. They're giving me 3 weeks worth of tablets and then they want to see her again. They said she should feel much bouncier and better. :D :D

I feel so much better because it was what I'd suspected. Glory to the internet as I would never of known this existed in dogs and she would just of carried on regardless. :(

Then I've got to go and do the dreaded food shop :x :x

An underactive thyroid sounds like it can be easily controlled with meds. Thank God. Isn't the Internet awesome how we can find out just about any info we want?!!

Hope she's ok, please keep us updated on her progress.

I'm really pleased that you've found out what was wrong with Rosie.

Great news that it can be treated :D

Who knows, she'll be keeping up with Millie in a little while.

Glad you've got Rosie's diagnosis. It's the worrying about it that eats away at you. Hopefully the meds will do the trick! She will feel so much better soon! :D

Thanks everyone. Tried to give Rosie her first tablet when I got home from vets. Thought she'd taken it twice, once it was stuck on the back of her tongue and I'm trying to push it down her throat. She spat it out both times, so had to resort to wrapping it up in a nice piece of ham. Somedays I'm thankful she's a glutton. :o

Just done as requested Rosebud, after all she is in her usual place, at the side of me in her basket. I must post the picture I took after I changed her bed the other day, she dived straight onto her clean duvet and snuggled down. It's a nice pic. :D

MARION i`m so glad to hear that you finally got Rosie`s results, and you finally know what`s the matter with her, it must be such a relief for you.
with the new medication Rosie will be back to her old self in no time at all, bless her :lilangel:
no doubt she`s snuggled p in that lovley comfy looking, quilted bed of hers, (or in your bed  ) so when you tuck her in give her a big hug and kiss from me :D
let us know how she get`s on with her medication (i noticed you do the same as me....disguising tablets with ham  ...never fails  )

Good news for Rosie!!

My ill-tempered, overweight (18 lbs). old (13) cat was diagnosed with a thyroid condition too. Since being on medication he is less ill-tempered,
(still a "bitch" tho) has lost some weight (he's 16 lbs now) and is calmer and nicer....it really seems to make a difference...
