Rowie-the-Pooh Posted May 10, 2003 Posted May 10, 2003 Hey guys! :D I was wondering about something and hope you might be able to help :P When Rowie's probably two years old, or maybe even four, we might adopt a new puppers from the pound. I really want to save a homeless dogs life this time  Anyway, I had a few questions, and was wondering if you could help me out :D . How do I introduce Rowie to the new pup? Rowie is really energetic, but that's just beacuse she's a puppy, she's only a year old! That's one of the reasons I'm waiting, I want to make sure she's fully trained, and mature, before I get her a brother/sister! . When is the best time I should get a new puppers? When Rowie's two, three, or four? :-? And what age of puppy would be the best? I'm scared 2 months might be a tad bit too small. Rowie isn't large, but she may get excited and hurt him/her by mistake. .IF I don't get a puppy, and get a fully grown dog instead, how do I introduce the two? Will Rowie feel like her place in the "pack" is endangered? Should I always pet Rowie first and such just like when getting a new puppy? Thanks Guys! :D I feel so embarrassed asking this  It feel like I don't have a clue about dogs  Which is not true  I just want to prepare for the future(and hopefully then I'll be a very wise dog owner and know much more 8) ). I know it's stupid to think of it right now, I mean this is like a year or more away..I just want to prepare  Plus, I'm bored and need more posts! Haha, just kiddin!  Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted May 10, 2003 Author Posted May 10, 2003 Sorry the second question is large! It's not like it's important or anything, I did that by mistake and my stupid computer won't let me edit! Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted May 10, 2003 Posted May 10, 2003 I am also thinking a new puppy would be nice :) my two are the same age as Rowie. when you go to have a look ask if you can take Rowie with you. :) Do not expect them to be instant friends :o I will use a crate for the puppy when I am not able to watch. Give Rowie just as much fuss as always. I will wait a year or so untill the right one turns up. It's up to you when you feel the time is right for you :) Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted May 11, 2003 Author Posted May 11, 2003 Thanks Mouse! :D I'll PM with you with the "reports"! :D Since our dogs are the same age, we might even get a new puppy at the same time! :D If we do, we can keep each other updated with new and stuff..and help each other out(since it's gonna be the first time I have 2 dogs at once! :o) Thanks Mouse! :D :D :D Quote
