Rosebud Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003   Help! I need a support group. I am getting puppy envy, I am starting to reallllllly want another puppy. This is the big problem, I am trying to finish Sally in conformation, I really want her to be finished before I really start thinking about breeding her. Second all these puppy pics and puppy litters (Roo you started it with me) are making me really envious. Third I just found out that an RR owner's dad I know bred his bitch to her male (oh, and I think he looks great, he's beat the #1 RR for 2002 before). Now I am starting to want to try and get one of her show male puppies. Quote
courtnek Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 1. Puppies cry all night 2. Puppies have to be housebroken 3. Puppies teethe and chew up everything in sight 4. Puppies have to be completely trained 5. Puppies have to be walked 5 times a day 6. someone (you) has to clean it up when the housebreaking training fails 7. Someone (you) has to train the puppy not to teethe on your hands with those razor sharp little puppy teeth 8. Someone (you) have to clean up puppy bouts with indigestion 9. More hoovering becomes necessary 10. All of the above happens in triplicate with a puppy. Hope that helps!! LOL :drinking: Quote
snowpaws Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 Ohh, I'd say go for it rosebud!!!!!!! Oops, hope I didn't ruin the support group :-? Go on...you know you wanna, and if you don't mind doing all of the above then what the hey! You have to walk the others anyway, so you might as well have a l'il fluffy one to come along too!!!!! :P :P :P Quote

Thanks Courtnek, that really doesn't help me though, I helped raise sally and rocket from the day they were born, their mom almost died (another long story) and we had to bottle-feed a litter of 9, God let us keep all of them, so I've been through all that 9-fold, I kept 4 pups at my house from age 4 weeks to 8 weeks. I really want a pup from this litter but don't need to take on the extra responsibility, especially once we get the lure-course functional and start having little private fun matches. But it's hard seeing everybody here getting puppies and I have an opportunity to get a really good show prospect. Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 I HAVE THAT URGE AS WELL--NOT TO PRODUCE A LITTER BUT TO BUY A PUPPY-- I HOPE IT PASSES BEFORE I SEE THE PUPPY I WANT :) Quote
Rosebud Posted June 26, 2003 Author Posted June 26, 2003 :D Third I just found out that an RR owner's dad I know bred his bitch to her male (oh, and I think he looks great, he's beat the #1 RR for 2002 before). The puppies were born earlier this week, 8 Boys & 3 Girls. I am going to need a lot of support in the next 8-9 weeks. After they open their eyes I will be helping with socialization and it's going to be very, very hard. The last time I helped with a litter that I had no intention of getting a pup from I ended up with Sally & Rocket. Quote
Angelboddy Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 I know what you mean. It's so hard to not want to keep everyone of them. including just one. I did not intend to keep Nostalgia when I was helping out with my friends litter. But I just got so attached to her. And besides, who can't resist those cute puppy eyes and that wonderful puppy breath. :D I don't know what to tell you rosebud,:-? I know if I were you. I would end up bringing one home anyways. Good luck. Please let us know how things go. Quote
Rosebud Posted June 26, 2003 Author Posted June 26, 2003 :D About the only thing I have going for me in saying NO, I can't is $$$$$$$$$$$. Good quality RR's are not cheap. Quote
Daisysmom Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 I CAN'T resist!!  Sorry, I'm no help   Quote
LisaLQ Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Sky had 13 pups, and if anyone has ever met a lurcher (or greyhound) pup, they'll know how hard that was! Every time I get clucky for a pup, I just remember them, they were lovely, but I could never do that again :o Although they are very hard to resist, I get the same feeling with adult dogs too - but 2 is enough for us  Quote
