Malamum Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Yesterday by b/f was showing someone at his work the online album I have with pics of Indy. She was laughing at my comments and because I refer to myself ad Mum and by b/f as Dad. She said "it's not a child you know, it's just a dog" and by b/f was like well you try telling Mel that! He may as well be our child. I'm sure I am not the only one here to refers to myself as mum. Am I? :o Quote

Malamum Posted April 23, 2003 Author Posted April 23, 2003    just read this again - lots of typos, my "my's" came out as "by's" . But I'm sure you get the gist. Quote
StarFox Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Nope your not the only one. I'm Mom or Mumy to Zebra. And when Zebra is bad my mom says "MOM! come get your baby!". My mom also makes fun of me and says she never knew that she would have a furry grandchild. :P But i'd rather have a dog than a kid...for one they are easier to take care of and secondly i'm too young to have kids. Rosebud Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003  :D I have 5 children! a 13 year old cat, a 5 1/2 year old IG, a 4 1/2 year old cat and 2 15 month old RR's I'm momma, my roommate is momma deb, everybody else has their own certain name, we have aunts, brothers, sisters, grandma's/pa's. They know who everybody is. They sign their own paw-paws to their cards to everybody. We like to refer to them as four-legged furry people. They have feelings, can think on their own, and know how to communicate what they want to us. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 I'M MUM TOO TO MY TAI, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIM AND MY TWO SONS IS THAT HE NEVER DOES ANYTHING INTENTIONALLY NAUGHTY....WELLLL!!! Quote
jen Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 guilty too!! WE ARE MUMMY AND DADDY, my mum is grandma, they have auntie`s and uncles ...etc. I think that`s the way it should be.....they`re our babies :iloveyou: Quote
behle Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 My husband and I got married later in life and have no children, so of course our boys are our kids and we are their Mom and Dad, and our relatives are their relatives too! When we send greeting cards, etc., they are always included (but sometimes they have to buy their own cards if there's a real cute dog on the front!). :D Quote
marion Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Us too behle. although my partner has children we never had any together so Ruby and Rosie are our babies. You should see and hear the commotion when his van passes the house and I shout "here's your dad". They go absolutely beserk, Rosie runs round the house looking for something to greet him with (shoe, sock, anything will do), Ruby just yaps till she's blue in the face (can dogs get blue in the face?) then goes on the hunt for her ball. He comes in and spends the next ten minutes covered in dogs then turns round and asks me "whats for tea", typical. We are their Mum and Dad and my mum is their Nanna, my sisters are their aunts etc etc. The same goes for my mum's dog (must post some pictures, she's adorable). My brother thinks I have lost the plot because when I leave my mums I always fuss the dog and say "bye sweetheart, you're a beautiful girl". We defintely love being a doggy mum and dad. Quote
behle Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 :kciuki: We are right there with you, 100 percent! Quote
Rosebud Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 :D Sally-Rose will run to the car door and just wait till I open it, she will then jump up give me my kiss and off she goes. It is so funny she has to be the first one to give me a kiss when I get home. Then she's like o.k. Momma's home time for cookie. Sandy just sits on the couch barking and whining till I come over to her and give her her love. Rocket barks at everybody like he's saying no! it's my turn. They get so excited when I get home. Quote
courtnek Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 I'm everybody's mom..... I have Freebee, Pushycat, (dog and cat), Kyle (sometimes human) and of course, Alex, who is now gone. Kyle's friends call me mom, and I always referred to the dogs and cat as my "kids" (which annoys Kyle to no end - lol ) when/if I ever get my new dog, I'll be his/her mom too, no matter what Kyle says!!! :D Quote
Bubblezzz Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 ooohhh... I am so jealous of all of you with extended families! :P My babies only have a mummy and daddy - 1 aunt refers to me having a 'baby' in a degratory manner - I had to stop myself from pointing out how much cuter/sweeter/nicer/more obedient my baby is compared to her awful screaming kids!! Oh well, I'm sure whoever sees my baby and hers together can't help noticing that themselves!! :D haha!
