Bensam Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 This topic may have come up before, I've not been keeping up with all the goings on here, so apologise if I'm going over old ground! In Aussie there are some States who are going overboard with their Breed Specific Legislation and cause an awful lot of heartache. I have just read that Canada is going to add to their allready banned breeds list - Dalmations, Chows, German Shepherds, Huskies. Is this true? Is there any lobbying being done on behalf of owners? And MOST importantly, where is it going to end? Quote

What are they baseing this on it's ridiculous!1 i work at a dog training club and i have known lovely natured dogs of all of these breeds I have a GSD X who is the biggest woosy ever to walk the planet and my sister owns a husky who is the most gentle laid back dog I've ever met in my life !!! imported_Cassie Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 I live quite close to Newfoundland, I think what really got this "Ban the Breeds" issue going was a recent attack in New Brunswick. A 4 year old boy was mauled to death by 3 Rottweilers, they tore out the little boys jugular...it was a horribe, horrible "accident"? The ambulance workers have had to go for counseling...within the same week a "Bull" breed as they described it bite a childs face (the child ended up in the hospital with undetermined injuries) this happened in Fredericton, NB...about 1 1/2 hours away from the Rottie accident. There have been many discussions about banning breeds in Canada but, nothing has been done...I think its the same all over the world right now. The last I heard was our Legislative stated that there will be no ban on breeds as it would be hard to enforce.....I don't see any worries about this Ban going through...I will check into it further...but as far as I know presently; Banning Breeds was not passed (denied)...and I was told that the legislative stated they would not be passing this law.
