New Puppy

Hi! :hand:

Here's another question. For all of you who didn't read my prev post, I have a
5 year old (soon to be 6) Am. Cocker Spaniel.
Maggie's been the baby of the house since she was 10 weeks old.
I want to get another puppy really bad, but how do I know she'll be okay with another dog in the house?
At the park, she is okay with other dogs as long as they don't jump on her or try to lick her face.
She doesn't like it when the puppies jump all over her.
How do I know I am making the right decision?
I took her to obedience training and the trainer said she'll probably be okay, but at the class she is so focused on me, the trainer didn't get much chance to see her interact with other dogs, let alone puppies (we had no puppies in the class)
Do you guys have any advice? How do I know she won't be completely
miserable with a puppy in the house?

They way I let Sandy my IG (she was 4 at the time) know that she was still top dog was to not let the puppies take toys away from her, they couldn't get up on the furniture with her and she got her food first. It turned out to be a blessing that I did this. They are 14 months old now and still won't take anything away from her. They are growing up respecting her as top dog and it's the best thing since they are soooooo huge now.

USE A CRATE OR A PEN AND DO IT SLOWLY-ONLY LET BE BE TOGETHER WHEN YOU ARE THRER TO WATCH- I LET POPPY SMELL MY HANDS AFTER I HAD HELD THE PUPPIES AT THE BREEDERS HOUSE. AFTER A FEW WEEKS THEY WILL BECOME GOOD FRIENDS :)

i did similar things to the suggestions from mei mei, rosebud and mouseatthebusstop and they all became the best of friends with time.
So im sure yours will be fine too :D

Well if she dosen't like puppies jumping on her, you could rescue an older dog. you'd be saving a life and Maggie wouldn't have to deal with the puppy jumping all over her.
