Just added in some action shots of Drey and Daz playing together at my parents house. i think i will start a new album for him. Daz i consider to be my first real dog as he is the first dog that i had from the time he left his mother. I am really attached to him. he is a good dog but is aggressive to strangers. he is now 3 years old and he is about 25" at the shoulder and about 130 lbs. Big boy!! but he is my baby totally.

the last few pics in the album are of the two of them rough-houseing in the back yard.

enjoy!

Ooooh! Checked out all the pictures on your album. What great looking fellas. I love the way they've got their heads together studying the doggie prison in your folk's back yard!

They are scared of the kennel. they creep up to it and smell the edges and one time Drey got up the guts to walk in. but thats about it. Daz tends to just pee on it. i think they would both go bats if they were ever left outside alone. Drey cant stand to be in our backyard unless the door is open so he can come in when he wants to. if we close the door even when its cold he starts to try to jump over the fence. but as soon as the door is open he runs and plays. weird.

As far as dogs go these are two of my favorites. My very first dog was a Doberman and then i got the rottie. Rottweilers are a very impressive breed of dog the are quite imposing. I would say that they can make good first dogs but it depends more in the individual that is owning the dog. most people arent ready for all of the extra baggage that these breeds can bring along beyond just the feeding and walking and training.

they also carry high degrees of dog-aggression(more so the APBT), can be extremly territorial(more so the rottie), but more than anything its the amount of responsibilty of having a dog with the amount of bad press as these two. People are always watching and any little thing that proves what the media displays a is a set back for the entire breed.

I would say that your first dog could be either of these two breeds but be ready for the challenge, read all that you can take time out and get involved in your areas dog clubs and meet people that have rotties or APBTs and talk to them before you even go to see a pup to get for yourself, trust me once you lay eyes on one your going to be hooked.
These breeds are just a little more time consuming, training is mandatory in some cases its a preference to have a well trainined dog , but in the case of these its hazerdous to have anything else. There are of cousre other breeds of dog that are the same way but in the case of thse breeds its like you have something to prove when you walk your dog down the block. That your not some drug dealer or some dog fighter that your dog is not a canine menace or a danger to children and society. Its hard and there are days when it even get to me.

Go to the local shelter and talk to the people there, do everything you can to meet dogs of all ages DO NOT just look at puppies and think that shows you anything. I find that most bad habits dont surface until later in life. so look at some adults. one thing that i did when i decided on getting Drey was to go to some breed specific boards and talk to breeders and fanciers about various bloodlines and breeders. I cannot over stress the need to research before you buy, these are dogs that can be an extreme handful and if there is any doubt it would be better to select another breed. I spent about 6 months reading up on APBTs exclusively before i decided to get one, and even still i am finding surprises that no book could have prepared me for.

I am getting a little long-winded here so let me cut it short and simple read alll that you can find the interent is a great resource but talking to actual owners is better as they can relate to you face to face and answer your question, i wish you luck and if you find that there is room in your life for a dog rescue one of the many that have been abandoned in shelters or breed rescues.

good luck :black:
