DogPaddle Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Not a huge issue here - purely cosmetic but: Kavik has a lovely ruff through his neck and chest but his collar puts a groove in it. If we leave it off for a good while it lookse better but I don't like leaving the collar off. Is there a trick anyone knows that will minimize the problem. Not that it matters right now - his coat looks a little rough because I ended up cutting burs out off it. He actually lied down in a patch of them and his tail was attatched to his behind and his . . . vulnerable underneaths - I can't imagine it was comfy. You have never seen a dog sit so still as when I was trimming that up. Quote
bk_blue Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 DP what sort of collar does Kavik wear? I am not sure but I think there are some collars that don't leave such big grooves; don't know which ones though. maybe nylon instead of leather...?? Quote
bk_blue Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 http://www.blackdog.net.au/collarsbody.html have a look at that site. :) Quote
DogPaddle Posted March 27, 2003 Author Posted March 27, 2003 We use a nylon collar but leave it as loose as possible, maybe we should tighten it up a bit so it does not move around and wear at the coat and break off hairs? Maybe he has a brittle coat? Zaphod's coat is not effected by the collar much at all. Quote
bk_blue Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 I honestly don't know... you can always try it and see if it works? (this is why I like having short haired dogs!!!! ) Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 mine only wear collers when we are going out to stop the coat getting marked. They are miro-chiped so they have ID :D Quote
