We're having problems trying to keep Lily where we want her. As I've said before, she knows how to open the sunroom door, even knows how to unlock it. She's learnt how to open it from the outside now so if we want the door closed we always have to lock it while she's out. We worked out that if we put a chair infront of the door while they are in the sunroom at night it was at just the posistion where she couldn't unlock the door. Well, being the smart persistant dog that she is she's worked out how to unlock and open the door with the chair there and of course when that happens Tessa gets out, jumps the fence and wonders the streets all night.... so what do I do?
I know the best thing would be to let her in the house seeing as thats where she wants to be, but I don't make the rules unfortunatly :(

Try using an invisible fence with a sonic, not electric collar, and inquire about adding a human audible alarm. Or keep your dogs in your room with you at night or look into a crate or xpen at night. Put a bell on the door for during the day.

The hook and latch would work, but the real question is - WHY is she doing this?

Does she need out? Does she just want in? What's causing her behavior?

Figure that out, and the solution will be easier.

Yep, I know... too smart
The latch on the top of the door sounds like a really good idea, I'll talk to dad about it
I'd love to keep them in my room at night, but mum wont let me (though dad lets me have her in my room after mums in bed :bigcool: ) Even if I could though, I doubt Tess could stay in the night as she has to be watched while she's inside to be sure she stays in her basket as she is incontinent.
I think the reason why she does it is a combination of freedom to go in and out as she pleases as well as trying to get attention. As I've said, I'd love to have her in the house, I know thats what she really wants, but she has to settle for the next best thing... the sunroom. :tard:
