Daisysmom Posted March 8, 2003 Posted March 8, 2003 Does anyone know if you can get insurance on a dog with a "history" :o Our Daisy is bleeding us dry.... this last time was over $600.00 :eek2: Quote
alicat613 Posted March 8, 2003 Posted March 8, 2003 VPI does check preexisting conditions and is the only ins. in the US that I know of for pets. Petco and Petsmart have 'plans' but they didnt lok very good to us. Parker is about $20 a month for us to insure with additional routine care coverage. It does not prepay, you pay and then submit your claim but you can go to any vet. Quote
Daisysmom Posted March 8, 2003 Author Posted March 8, 2003 Hmmm.... what is VPI? I went on line today, and found a site for about the same price. When I put Daisy's history in, it let me continue for the same price. (Guess they didn't really check  ) I figured it out, and with both dogs for 30.00 a month, it would still be cheaper than what we JUST paid for Daisy. Quote
DogPaddle Posted March 9, 2003 Posted March 9, 2003 No pre existing condition check here either. It costs more to insure some breeds including Boxer, Chow, Dobe, GPyr, Irish Wolfhound, Newfs, Old ESheepdog, Rottie, Schnauzers, St Benard, Airdales, Bull Terriers, Bulldog Breeds, Bassets, Bouvier, Great Dane and Mastiff Breeds. Full premium coverage here costs $56.45 to $74.85 per month. Quote
alicat613 Posted March 9, 2003 Posted March 9, 2003 Oh sorry! VPI = Veterinary Pet Insurance http://www.petinsurance.com/ What was the one you found? Quote
Daisysmom Posted March 9, 2003 Author Posted March 9, 2003 http://www.petcareinsurance.com/ They have a few different plans. Quote
Daisysmom Posted March 9, 2003 Author Posted March 9, 2003 That's not a bad plan. I can get the better coverage for Daisy and the standard for Chelsea. I think we will do it. Thanks  Quote
