Practice, practice ,practice
go to a show prior yours watch what happens.
The biggest thing is listen to the judge,
calm down and enjoy your day.
Do not go first in the line of the class, then you can watch the others
it may help.

GOOD LUCK

i agree with the others and would like to add, that if you have a kennel club near you, the best thing is to go, find out everything you can, sometimes show people can be so distant with newbies becouse they are concentrating or distracted, and some just plain dont want to be bothered, try to zone in on a friendly face preferably after the newfs are done, follow them to their grooming area, and ask them for some help or tips.
we have a show upcoming this weekend and next, sydney is out of coat, but i will still show him for the heck of it.
and morgan will go the next day for her 2nd leg for her CD
we also will be showing UKC conformation wich is much more laid back and friendlier people abound from what i am told, that also may be an option for you to "get your feet wet"
make sure your newf is up to standard, you can read the breed standard at the NCA website. try to find the faults your dog has, EVERY dog has faults, there is no such thing as a perfect dog, as there is no such thing in people either.
good luck and learn a lot

thanks, everyone! I only went to one show, but we placed 4th :) Chloe was pretty good, but all the younger dogs were a little nervous because for a couple of them it was their first time, and the wind hitting the tent was making a very loud noise. We had a great time! For the next couple months, I'll be showing in Jrs with her. When she's fully grown, we'll go on to the breed ring.

There's just one thing. I knew it would happen. I'm in Jrs for now. Everybody in Jrs. has little dogs (which they can control!!!) When we're lined up according to speed, I'm going to end up at the front most of the time, because I have the fastest dog by far. Newfies aren't really fast in the ring, of course, but compared to a Pug or a Boston Terrier, they are...
