mouseatthebusstop Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 :( I took Paddy and Gladis out for their walk. Gladis cut her paw on a broken beer bottle it was quite deep. took her to the vet. The vet had to do an operation on her to make sure there was no glass inside and sew her up just got her home now she is sleepy Quote

alicat613 Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Oh argh!! That is such a pet peeve of mine. WHY is there so much broken glass everywhere?? Because of RUDE people. I hate when we are walking and see glass. Sometimes it is very difficult to get around a big mess of glass and then I'm stuck because if there's traffic on the road, depending on where I am it is a real pain. Parker's only 6 months and now 90 some pounds and I can't carry him over glass much longer considering I'm about 120. Hope poor Gladis feels better soon. Quote
Shannon_C Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Hi Mouse. Thank you for your private message :D I hope Gladis gets well soon.....poor girl....darn litter louts. Same problem with glass near me. I have to avoid it when walking the dogs! Oh and if I ever pass your way. (I will wave) lol Quote
Daisysmom Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 :( Poor baby!! Hope she is better soon! Quote
bk_blue Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Poor girl!!! :( Hope she makes an uneventful recovery. Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted February 25, 2003 Author Posted February 25, 2003 she can run around on three legs quite well. It makes me angery that we clean up after our dogs while others leave dangerous litter about :( Quote
science_doc Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 K, I just have to say that is an awesome idea. If everyone did that there would be no trash in the world  Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted February 25, 2003 Author Posted February 25, 2003 that is a good idea. K I will try to do that once a week or so Quote
DogPaddle Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Oh those plastic ring things are trouble. We always cut the loops on them before we deposit ours in the garage or recycling because you never know for sure where they'll end up. I've seen to many critters caught in them. Quote
Ickle Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Hello Mouse so sorry to hear about Gladis's trauma, hope she makes a full recovery soon give her a hug & kiss from Ickle   Quote
daisykatep Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Thats the only thing I hate about the good weather, all the glass and litter everywhere. During the winter months the only walkers seem to be dog walkers then the sun comes out and back comes the glass and litter. Roll on the winter again! Quote
daisykatep Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I always take a carrier bag with me too  Quote
Shannon_C Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Hi Mouse. How is Gladis today ? K. They wouldn't look at you blankely if it was one of there children. I would just stick my nose up at them and carry on regardless, they would soon get the message. After all you are keeping your place tidy from litter louts :x ...preventing injury to animals and people alike Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted February 26, 2003 Author Posted February 26, 2003 she is a lot better now she cannot understand why she cannot go out with Paddy when I take him out :) she has to rest. She can run fast on three legs Quote
Daisysmom Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Well, she looks well-rested.  What a sweet baby! Quote

Daisysmom Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 Well, that's good news!! She'll be herself in no time! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 Oh so sorry I'm a little late on this  Glad to hear she's getting better, love the pic, she looks very well rested indeed! just LOVE those wrinkles!! :D In the summer time my neighbor and I always hook the dogs up to the wagon, and go bottle hunting for money to go to the movies and stuff like that. Not only do we get the money, but we help clean up around here, and the dogs get good exersize, and training as well! (well aso get some good exersize too!) I remember WAY back in the day, I was probably about 6 then my sisters and I decided (for some strange reason) that it would be fun to walk bare feet in the mud in the ditches! I stepped on something, and started complaining that it hurt, but my oldest sister just told me to stop whining. So my older (not OLDEST) sister noticed that there was blood on my foot, and reported to Anna that she noticed a bear bottle around there too... luckly one of our neighbor's found us, and brought us back home. I remember sitting on the counter with my foot under the running water, and just watching the blood poor down the sink (crying the whole time too of course! LOL) :o My oldest sis, Anna felt bad for yelling at me, so she made me crutches out of branches! LOL They were true "Timmy" style! I still have a scar on my foot from then too :-? Quote
Ickle Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 So please to see Gladis is on the mend and what a super photo she looks great Ickle     Quote
