Submissive Dog

I have three dogs. A Saint Bernard, a husky mix and another mix that we really have no idea what she is. It's with the third dog, Cleo, we're having problems with. Lately she has starting peeing whenever she seems to think that she's in trouble. The first couple of times, she hopped up on the couch and peed there. Then my dad (who is a big and has a deep voice) tried to pet her. When he went over to her and leaned down she peed all over the floor. Sometimes when my husband picks her up (she's a little dog only 15 pounds) she pees all over him. Sometimes she runs into Caeser's (husky mix) crate and pees there. Sorry to go off on a rant but I'm at my wits end. She's a very sweet dog towards humans, doesn't let the other dogs trample all over her and is tolerant of the three cats and the kids. But I don't know what to do. I'm still in the process of housetraining my other dog, Bentley, so I'm used to cleaning up messes. But I can't have a dog that pees all over the floor any time guests try to pet her. Any suggestions?? Thanks

The answer is in your Title - she's overly submissive. If you have somewhere where you could pay "special" attention to her it will help.

Get a throw toy, or a tug toy, just for her. Then let her "win" a few rounds with the toy. let her take it away from you. Do this for about 10-15 minutes a day, then put the toy up till the next session. DONT leave it where she can "claim" it. This will increase her confidence, but be careful.
If she starts getting "bossy" she wont need anymore confidence building.

Once she gets a little more confident she;ll be less submissive. Right now she feels like the "Omega" in your pack - absolute bottom of the pile.

This behaviour is typical of the Omega.

Whenever you first come home, or first need to address Cleo calmly and quietly tell her sit (if she doesn't sit already you may need to work on this) wait 15 seconds to a minute before greeting her or picking her up or issueing another command. Praise and/or treat all the good things she does lots and only correct bad behaviours by saying no calmly and then have Cleo sit for 15 seconds if possible before removing her or the item that was causing you to need to correct her.
