DogPaddle Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 We have a magnetic dart board it has plastic darts with flat ends that have magnets in them. Kavik has always shown great interest in it, so we hung it lower and let Kavik catch the darts or at least try. He was having great fun, he would block some or catch some and then drop them immediately so he could catch the next. When we were done playing (actually when I was done as Kavik may have played indefinately) I put the board back up. Kavik has been sitting staring at the board for 3 1/2 hours, he cannot be distracted, would not eat. I finally locked him in his crate in another room with his food and he did eat, I hid the board while he was in the crate and now he is sitting forlornly where the board was. Quote
bk_blue Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 Poor baby!! Don't you just love that single-mindedness in your dogs. BK is like this with: possums, thunderstorms, cats, blimps (in the sky)... he will just not give up and will sit out barking and whinging all night in the rain at the tree waiting for that possum to come back, or in the middle of the yard daring the thunder to make one more crack...   Quote
behle Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 Poor, poor Kavik! What do you think he will do when you re-introduce the dart board to the wall? Scary!!! :infinity: Perhaps he will be mesmerized :loveu: ....and you will be traumatized! :shake: He is one obsessed dog..and this after only ONE play session! Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 poor Kavik he only wants to play :D :D :D LOL Quote
DogPaddle Posted February 24, 2003 Author Posted February 24, 2003 Well at least I have the perfect toy motivator for training purposes. :D Quote
courtnek Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 Alex is like that with squirrels. He'll sit under the tree and stare at them for hours on end - occasionally jumping up to see if he can get them - (the tree is 20 feet tall...not a chance in you-know-where). It's actually funny unless you want him to come in - when he's like that you have to go out and get him.... Poor Kavik!! He has found the perfect game and doesnt understand why you wont play with him endlessly 24 hours a day!! LOL :D Quote
