Kiger Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 Need someone who dremels their dogs nails to answer this one. What attachment do you use? I heard something about not using the pumice type grinder, but the sand paper one instead. Quote

I heard something about not using the pumice type grinder, but the sand paper one instead. I dremel my kids nails. I use the little sandpaper drums, fine not coarse. Don't "hold" the drum hard and push against the nail. Let the sandpaper take the nail off little by little. Rotate nails frequently, nail beds heat up and can hurt the dog if you leave the dremel on one nail too long. Take a look at http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merenski/doberdawn/index.html Quote
Nancy B Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 You're welcome and good luck! :D Remember that while no dog really loves having it's nails done, if you introduce the dremel properly and remain firm and loving, they will accept it. Quote
Kaleb124 Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 I bought a dremel for Kaleb 3 weeks ago....I got a couple of hot dogs and cut them up (nickel sized) and started there. I put hotdogs on the dremel box and let him eat them off, then on the case and let him eat them off, then inside the case, then on the dremmel, touched a nail with it another hotdog,...then i turned it on...another hotdog,... then I trimmed one nail and ended it with a handfull of hotdogs. Now when you turn the dremel on he comes running with drool hanging from his mouth! It all took about 30 minutes and he lets me trim them with no complaint at all. :D Quote
