Adding to kibble

Wanted to know if any of you add something to your dogs kibble. If so what do you add. I was speaking with a dog owner at my local dog park and he said that when he feeds his dog his evening meal he mixes either cottage cheese, wet canned food, yogurt, vita gravy, or some chicken broth. Im not sure why this is only being done with the dinner meal. Was wondering what the pro and cons to this would be.

Secretly?? I make no secret about it! I cannot imagine making my baby eat the same old dried kibble day in and day out!

There are lots of things you can add to kibble, but do so only one at a time to make sure you can see how your dog reacts to it. Yogurt (plain) or cottage cheese are good additives. I prefer a nice active yogurt, gives them lots of good live cultures for a healthy digestive tract. You could also add a little veggies with that, like green peas (one of my dog's favorites!) and/or shredded carrots. My dog is also really into broccoli but that is unusual. Grated veggies are a great addition, although the more gassy veggies like broccoli or cabbage types or squash, you might want to lightly cook first. Especially if your dog has only eaten kibble their whole life. These are good ways of adding a little excitement to their food as well as giving them some fresh food with fresh nutrients.

Some dogs do not do well with potatoes or tomatoes. Avacados are iffy, but definately no avocado skin or seed (although who would feed those parts, I don't know!). No green parts (ie skin, or vine) of tomatoes or potatoes.
Go easy on garlic.
NO onions of any kind, macadamia nuts, chocolate.

I usually add grated veggies, raw meat, an egg, kelp etc a couple of times a week, plus any dinner left overs if they are healthy (we pretty much only eat healthy here anyway). I also give the dogs a raw bone each every day.
