Guest Anonymous Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I am planning on taking my 8 year old Shepherd Mix (90 pounds) to a holistic vet. He started showing arthritis problems about a year ago and he has a hard time getting up. I would love to try something the natural way. Does anybody have experience with this? Did your dog actually improve? I read books and they sound like the dogs just do so well and live a long happy life. Is it true or are they just stories? Any info would be great. Thank you. Quote
bk_blue Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Try celery tablets. We have a 16 yr old GSD X who did very well on celery tablets for a long time and he has severe arthritis (and age-itis  ). My aunt's 14 yr old Beagle also takes celery tabs for her arthritis and it's worked very well for her. You can get celery tablets at any health food store and I also think the supermarket has them. Good luck! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Thank you so much for the replies so far. I can see that allergies clear up pretty good (my boy has those as well in the summer). I am just a bit worried about his size. I heard from owners of smaller dogs that they had success with natural arthritis products but I never heard from somebody with a dog over 80 pounds. Shannon_C Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I don't know much about it either, this is something I am not looking forward to myself but I will do my upmost to help my Bullmastiff in any way that I can. I know my vet will be there for me so I have no worries there. With advice from others here Im sure you will find something to help your dog! GOOD LUCK! Quote
