humby is now 4 months old and continuing to be a very dominant dog. She is small and loves people to death, she also likes to play with dogs, but after about 5 mins she trys to asert her dominance, mounting them and biting their ears. So of course i break it up and warn people before she plays with their dogs. I am hoping she will calm down, but her hackles go up, so we can't socialize her anymore. are we doomed or is there anyway to curb the behavior. PS we never let her off lead. the reason i am concerned is because our parents and aunts and uncles have dogs that she will be around during holidays, i want her to be a part of all the fun, but so far i haven't heard or been able to find much about how to make it possible. thanks katie

If you dont intend to breed her, get her spayed. That will cut down on a lot of the dominance behavior. Vet's will sometimes tell you it makes no difference in a female, but it sure did in mine!!

A little dominance on your part would help too. Make her understand that YOU are the alpha, and when she misbehaves make her sit at your side, until she stops misbehaving.

Hope that helps some
