 If you would like to get a picture of the quality of cop in Cookeville...checkout the latest story at www.putnampit.com

A 20-year-old stole a car and fled with the police in pursuit. They ended up running over and killing the guy...NO doubt he growled and charged at them!! See extract of story below. This is from the Tennessee Highway patrol report. Blamy was the 20-year-old.

According to The Herald-Citizen: 'The lead pursuing unit skidded to a final rest in the northbound lane," the THP report says. "Skid ding debris, vehicle number two [a police car] was unable to stop before traveling over driver number one [Blamy]."

I am sorry...but I have no sympathy for this person. He obviously stole a car and drove it with no care or thought to the public (he could have killed some one himself.) There is no excuse for such behavior. I got through my teenage years and young adulthood without breaking laws and putting myself in situations to hurt myself or bring harm to others...and there were some pretty tough years too. As far as I am concerned he sadly, brought this on himself...I feel more pity for his family who will have to grieve over him.

I know cops make mistakes...but hey, they are only human, and by god they are doing a job I sure would not want to do...and working for barely enough to live on. I don't think people appreciate the police enough (except when they are calling them about a break in or asking to be rescued of course...)

Sorry...no tears here for that fool.

sorry, I wasnt trying to imply that I sympathised with the car thief, cuz I dont. And I do have a lot of respect for the police under most circumstances. These particular police need some real help though...

It's a sad fact that there are "bad" cops in every precinct. And they give the good cops a bad name. Cookeville needs to do some real thinking about the training or re-training of their police force....

You may think your remarks are supportive of the police...they are not. Check out the past actions of this sorry bunch of losers on putnampit.com.

I support good officers...which most are....and that is why I hate it when a minority of buffons in blue smear the reputation of all with their negative behaviors.

Most cops are fine...and they are the first to hate idiots like the Cookeville bunch.

Since when is being drunk and taking a car for a joy ride worthy of capitol punishement? Two cars were chasing this guy and managed to run over him in doing so. They obviously were not in control of the situation...just as they were not when Hall shot Patton.

The could just as easily run over an innocent by-stander.

Wearing a badge is not a license to irresponsible actions.

*All* of us are only human, not just the police. Certainly we all make mistakes. I have never had a problem with the cops and they usually do a good job. But this particular department gives them a bad name. Kind of like the bad owners of ABPTs who turn their dogs into monsters and have allowed their reputation to sully.

:( Darn..the computer monster that has been lurking on this site ate my message. I agree with the response above.

Officers are human and can make mistakes...but this department seems to make far far too many.

They seem sadly lacking in both training and proper leadership.

For their sake and everyone elses...they need some help in how to properly control situations with out causing tragedies!

I completely agree with you Six....the police have to be responsible forheir actions in all situaions. They are supposed to protect us. If they allow personal feelings, personal grudges or dislikes; to impar their judement, they are not doing their jobs..
