Why I was gone.

Sorry I was gone for so long. I recently lost one of my female Canary Dogs to a tumor and I haven't been in that "posting" mood. Also, one of our horses is sick again and he may have to be put down. We are going through a lot right now so if I'm not on for a few days at a atime, that is why.

Oh thank you so much newfie. I am hoping our horse will be alright but he is very old and it may be his time to go.

I'm very sorry to hear that. :(

I just found out my grandpa is in the hospital (age 92). He hasn't eaten in two days and is very weak. They think he might be bleeding internally from his blood thinner. They aren't sure he'd make it through surgery. They are using a scope on him, I guess. I'm hearing this all fourth hand. Mom's at the hospital...tells Dad. Dad tells Sis. Sis tells me. He's only 90 miles away but I'm still sick and there is NO way they'd let me in to see him. :(

I think his time is coming as well....the only grandpa I have left.

Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.

Thank you. It's hard to see him this way. I remember him chasing us kids around after we would steal his handkercheifs from him....and keep him and grandma up all night when we would have sleep overs. That was ages ago though...at least 20 yrs ago.

It is really hard to see them age. He's losing his sight and isn't getting enough blood to the brain. On Thanksgiving he told me the same thing over and over and over...but sure remembers having over 1000 sheep at one point! He was a farmer...of about everything. Corn, cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens, and outside cats galor (strays that we would dress up in doll clothes  ).

But at 92, he's lived quite the full life. I've very lucky to still have a grandpa at that age. I'm 31 now and my dad's dad died when I was 6 of emphasima (SP)....

Thank you again....

I'm SOOO sorry, both Canary and Gigi -

Can I help somehow?

Both of my parents (and grandparents) are gone now, so I can sympathize.....

My prayers are with you. Hope everything turns out ok for you.

Well, grampa is doing somewhat better. He's wanting to go home and he wants to tell the nurses to leave him the hell alone! Spunky old man! He's gotten 2 pints of blood and tomorrow they will run more tests to see if they need to stop the bleeding or if the blood is just too thin. With the meds he is on, this is very common in the elderly. The bleeding is not in the lower intestine, it's somewhere before that chain of events.

I'll start a new thread if more info is needed to be posted. Otherwise, you can expect him to be getting better. This is supposed to be about Canaries&Canes, not me! Sorry about getting off topic!

Canary - I'm so sorry for the loss of your pup. That is never easy, and then to have your horse sick as well. That's just too much! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
