Guest Anonymous Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Does anyone have one of these? I want to get one for the cold nights when i cant really take the boys out for very long. People say there is some stigma that only dog-fighters have these but whatever. I want to know if this is something that anyone has experience with, the best way to use them and where i can get one. :black: Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Yes they are a little pricey arent they, I preformed a search for "canine treadmill" and found that the cheap ones are like $1200. I just spent huge bucks onthe dog I am not made of money i have way too many toys and treats to buy, maybe they have a used one on ebay? Time to do some serious searching. :black: Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 I would be hard pressed to build stuff but i guess it would save major cash. I should look into that a little more. Just have to make me get my hands dirty huh? :black: Quote
Pumpkin the musher Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Alot of mushers use a device similar to a large hamster wheel- there was some flak from animal rights people till they found out that the wheels were open; that is the dog could use them and get off at will. most mushers had to gate them so the dogs would'nt spend too much time on them- :multi: Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 do you have any additional info on the wheels? Quote
gooeydog Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Check your local/state laws before you even bother buying a treadmill... in a few states they're considered dog fighting paraphenilia, and having one is proof enough to take your dogs. Also, some dogs won't run on them. Here's a site for Grand Carpet Mills, which are fairly cheap. You can also make your own, but I can't find the site that had the instructions on it.... http://www.grandcarpetmill.com/ Quote
Nancy B Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 I have a Jog-A-Dog dog treadmill. Mason loves it, will race me up to the third floor and "assume the position". I don't use it all the time. Usually Mason gets ample exercise with agility and free running but it is nice to have on hand if the weather is lousy or my schedule doesn't permit as much agility practice as he needs. Quote
