bk_blue Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 I saw this mentioned briefly in another thread. How does a stud dog become aggressive (not sure if dog or human type) after impregnating a female? Is it because he thinks he's hot stuff because he got to do the wild thing or is it something else? :-? Quote
Black GSD Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 That would be my guess. When I was grooming dogs there was a Newf that came to get bathed. This was generally an AWESOME. beautiful well trained dog. (He was a show dog and had points i the conformation ring.) Anyway, one day he decided to "breed" one of the other groomers. :D Problem is that he started acting aggressive (I guess you could say possessive) and no one could get him off of her! Needless to say, he was asked not to come back. (He had been coming there for a couple of years.) Quote
Poofy Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 its natural in the wild, for a male animal to be more aggressive, more territorial, to protect its breeding rights. This is instinct. In dogs, that instinct is often still present. They have s*xual aggression that develops with hormones. This doesn't nessisarly happen only after it has bred a female rather when they hit sexual maturity...it is breeding the female that can make them more "intuned" to what they are feeling really means...then suddenly the light goes on...and they know what they were put on the planet to do.. :) HA! The presense of a female in heat, triggers homone production in the dog, which can then highten the behavior...and remember a dog in heat can be detected a mile a way by a good nose ;) Quote
