DogPaddle Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Zapod ate a silver coloured coin, not sure if it was a quarter, nickle or dime. (Someone was "watching" the dog for us.) So I'm thinking a nickle or dime might not be a problem but a quarter??? We have vet appointment on Thursday anyway for vaccination so I will mention it then. Any experience with this? Quote
yellowlabsrule Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 :o I haven't had any experience, but I hope he'll be ok! (Your dog is a he, right? ) Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 29, 2003 Author Posted January 29, 2003 Yes Zaphod is my puppy. He is a 12 week old lab/bc cross. He's sorta small or at least small enough that I think passing a quarter is going to be somewhat painful :o . Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 30, 2003 Author Posted January 30, 2003  No I can live without the quarter. I think Zaphod is doing just fine. He is in the process of pinning Kavik right now and does not seem to be having difficulty eliminating. Quote
eric Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Not to alarm you, but if you don't see it within a few days I think you should immediately take him to the vet. Objects like this can sometimes get caught in all the loops and what-not. The real risk is that it can cut the bloodflow off to a region of the intestine, which causes it to die. This will then require surgery to try and remove the dead section and try to patch the two healthy ends back together. Don't get too freaked out though. It will almost certainly pass, just keep an eye out for it. Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 31, 2003 Author Posted January 31, 2003 That's what vet said, keep an eye out for it. If it doesn't pass in 2 more days give him a call. Quote
