Rather than having to ask all the time (not that that is bad!) you should learn about what the labels mean and how to tell for yourself. The reason I say this is not because I don't want to answer, but different foods work for different dogs, dog foods change, and different dog foods are available in different areas.

As for your question, I would not even touch the outer bag of Iams, not with a thick pair of gloves. I don't ever wish to be associated with the amount of death "in" and associated with each bag of their food. Just my personal opinion.

And I'd never feed anything that said chow although I've never heard of that food, just my anti-Purina-ness coming through.

I'll get some links together for you on what food labels really mean and such. Makes the whole thing a lot easier!

Have to agree with the other replies, best to learn what the ingredient descriptions mean. Then stick to Human Grade Food if possible ~ not everyone can afford it though. First 3 ingredients should be named Meats (Not meat meal) or Fish ie animal protein not cerials. You could look at cooking food up yourself then you will know whats in it.
Personally I will not touch Eucanuba, Iams, Purina etc. I do feed home cooked meals, Canidae and Nutro Natural Choice Puppy food.
Barf = Sick dogs ~ My opinion only.

We should have a sticky about food issues under Health to refer people to. Although I will say, I love to read the food topic. Can never learn too much!

YEAH! Glad to hear that! Back pain is one of the worst, I think.

Posted

Back pain is the worst thing in the world because it's not easily fixed and it's so debilitating. Mum has spondolythesis in her back, a slipped disc which presses on the nerve going down into her right leg, causing her significant pain, plus osteoarthritis in her hip. I tell you, I am being mighty careful with my back. :-?

1..2...3...aren't there more than 10 on there? LOL
What's wrong with Flint River Ranch? I've only heard good things about it. Glad to see Canidae is still on it even though I swear they changed the wet food formula because it is extra stinky now.

Flint river ranch....

A guy came on here that we though was advertising it.

Deep just went off the deep end (pun intended) with this guy. They were fighting and it was a RIOT!
