Guest Anonymous Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 The only thing we can find to distract Hazel from us when we're watching TV is her Kong. Anything else: DISTROYED. She had one of those water Kongs, with the foam inside and the rope attached. She shredded the rope, then soon pulled all the foam out (once she did I disposed of it of course), it was quieter then, but NOW! All we hear through the movie is "krrraaawap... Krrrraaawwaaap... SQUEEK! Plunk... Krrrraaawaaap" (like my sound effects? LOL) it's REALLY eritating! I don't like yelling at her for sititng there and chewing on her Kong, but it's DRIVING ME CRAZY! Maybe if I stuff something in it will that help? And if so, what could I possibley stuff in it! She'd distroy it in no time!! Any suggestions welcomed! and Thanks ahead of time!! Quote
gooeydog Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Since you feed BARF, you can just take some of her normal diet (at least the meat and veggies), cut them up and put them in there, add water or broth, then freeze it. Make sure to clog up the small hole at the top with peanut butter though, or it'll leak out before it freezes  Quote
eggrolyn1223 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 I filled the thing with peanut butter and then stuck a few biscuits in there..but I forgot to freeze it...just my luck..got my whole bedroom wall painted with sticky peanut butter  Quote
Daisysmom Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Wow :) I never thought of freezing it. I'll have try that on Daisy. That is her favorite toy. What a great idea  I'll tell you, I have had dogs for years, but have LEARNED SO MUCH FROM ALL OF YOU! THANKS! Quote
Nancy B Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 The kong folks actually have a website that gives ideas on what to stuff a kong with www.kongcompany.com Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 TAKE HER FOR A LONG WALK BEFORE YOUR FAVOURITE TV SHOW STARTS. SHE WILL SLEEP WHILE YOU WATCH TV UNLESS SHE SNORES :banan: Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Thanks for all your replies! what great Ideas! I doubt she'll really sleep after a walk, this dog has NEVER ENDING energy! LOL But I'll try it anyway Mouse, thanks! I brought up the freezing thing with my dad before, but he was like "then it'll be everywhere" but since we have hardwood floor in the Family room, maybe I can convince him that I'll clean up any messes she makes (which I doubt if it's food! LOL) Peanut butter?? I wonder if she can have that... I know my mom has a certain kind that she can eat (since mom's diet is very simular, although mom eats her meat cooked! LOL  ) I'll ask her if there's any left. I know the kind I use has sugar and stuff added, so she can't have that stuff. I never even thought of clogging it with Peanut butter though, Thanks for that! :D Otherwise I'd probably have a mess to be cleaning up in the freezer!! :o Thanks Nancy for the Link to the KONG site too!! Although looks like about everything has at LEAST one thing she can't have in there... but I'm sure i'll find some stuff of my own to stick in it! :D It's a great site though, I think I'll add it to my Links on Hazel's Webpage!! eggrolyn1223 Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 Oh yeah, well you think Hazel will never fall asleep?that's what I thought a few days ago...about Duck..well, yesterday, to my big surprise..Duck fell asleep when I was doing my hw!!I mean, RARE!!She had lots of toys, just chose not to play with them  , and there was absolutely nothing else in my room to destroy, so she just plopped down on my feet and slept..ive just found out that dogs are great foot warmers :) Quote
