Guest Anonymous Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 if you dont mind the smell of citronella and depending on your dog the stuff can get all over the place and it stains and stinks like hell...Personal opinion. Instead of a quick fix just TRAIN YOUR D$%# DOG!!! Quote
corgilady Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Rottn Pit, That was very rude, and uncalled for. I will not get into a discussion with you about my particular dog; however, you need to mind your language. Quote
eric Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 I'm not sure why you would consider that a citronella collar is a "quick-fix". It is a variation of a valid technique used by many trainers to teach dogs not to bark, namely spraying them in the face with a spray bottle when they bark. It is quite effective on most dogs. Many dogs learn not to bark and before long no longer require the collar. Corgilady also stated that her dog has already learned not to bark when she is around, and therefore needs a way of correcting the dog without her being present. I think saying "Train you damn dog" is a facile answer. It would be more constructive if you could provide some tips and techniques that Corgilady could use to get her dog to stop barking when he is alone outside. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Firstly the comment was not aimed at you directly dont take it as that, I wasnt directing the comment to you but to those who think that debarking a dog is something that is okay in any but the absolute worst scenarios. The reason I call those collars quick fix is because the majpority of people who use them do not use them properly. It is not a tool that you put on your dog and then becaue he no longer barks you no longer train, hence quick fix. Now if uses right, in and amidst a training regemin then it can be a valid tool, just that a tool. Sorry about the confusion, Im not quite that mean. Quote
