Guest Anonymous Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 I just found this board and I think it is so full of info. I'm just going to introduce our gang. I am the proud owner of seven dogs (4 cats and 2 fish). All have been rescued from the Humane Society, found on the side of a highway or taken from a bad situation. All of my pets are spayed and neutered (Bob Barker would be proud)!! I have a 7 yr old Shih-Tzu, a 3 yr old Rat Terrier mix, a 3 yr old Beagle mix, a 5 yr old Chin mix, a 2 yr old German Shepard, a 7month old Great Pyreneese and a 1 yr old Aussie. Very unique bunch. Luckly all my dogs get along well with one another and my kids. My chin mix is a little snappy with my daughter but he tries to stay away from her. I am getting ready to purchase a home with 10 acres and I am really wanting to start a rescue center. I still can't decide what types of dogs I want to rescue. I am thinking of maybe doing big black dogs because they are the ones that are put down in shelters most often. Anyone else out there a part of a rescue center. Any advice or input would be helpful. My husband and I would also like to open our own dog rescue. Will be within the next couple of years. We plan on rescuing large breed dogs. It will be nice to exchange ideas and see how you get yours off the ground. (sounds like you already have it started. :D ) Again welcome, this is a wonderful place to be. Quote

I'm like the dog lady in my neighborhood. I'm probably the only vegetarian in about a 100 mile radius. Here in the midwest many people like to mistreat animals. Puppymills are awful around where I live. Almost every dog in my neighborhood lives on a leash and gets little if any attention. I like giving my pooches big wet kisses in front of the neighbors because I know they think I'm nuts. :crazyeyes: Quote
