wildbunch Posted December 27, 2002 Posted December 27, 2002 Okay, so last night I got home and had some dinner with hubby and then went outside with the dogs. When everyone was finished we let Kimba and Willow inside and waited for Shiloh to meander into the house. I turn around for a second to close the door and smell something burning. I turn back around and theres Kimba trying to warm her butt by our natural gas stove, the kind with the glass door. (Um, here's the embarrassing part) She got too close! I ran over because of the smell and she just looked at me like (Ooh this feels great). Her TAIL was stuck to the stove glass door and the hair was burning. (Yipes) I pulled it off but it felt like when you pull tape off of skin. She hadn't even noticed, she didn't care. I was freaking out of course. So I got her off of the stove and then checked out her tail. Well, half of her tail now has little curled up hairs, no skin damage. The only reminder was the horrible smell of burnt hair throughout the entire house. It's like one of those movies you see with the dog so lazy it's tail is in the fireplace and on fire and it doesn't care. I still can't believe she did that and never knew. Needless to say we now have the stove area closed off with puppy gates. Our mal is bummed because that's one of his favorite places to lie down. Anyone else ever had something like this happen or do I just have a very unique little dane? Quote

bk_blue Posted December 28, 2002 Posted December 28, 2002 Blitz stuck his tail in the open fire once; he used to like to stand on the hearth, bum facing the fire, and warm himself. We didn't even notice until we smelled something like hair burning and we realised it was his tail! He didn't feel a thing (and loved all the fussing over him we made) but the white tip of his tail was all kind of brown. Quote
