My puppy usually goes over to my neighbor's house every night to play with their dog, and he ends up drinking a ton of water over there. Yesterday, he was over there twice. I always take him out a couple times afterward because I know he'll have to go - he usually asks to go out too. Well this time he followed my husband upstairs and squatted right in front of him. He got rushed outside where he went again - this is right after he'd been out too. Oh well, I thought, maybe he asked and we missed it because we were kinda busy yesterday. Okay, so the the second time he came back from there, I put him out twice and he peed both times. We went to bed and he went to sleep and then woke up after 30 minutes and wanted to go out. I put him on the floor, and as I was reaching for my clothes, I hear him wizzing away. I grabbed him and he even leaked on me while I was carrying him outside. He peed a ton out there too. When I got back, I also found he had leaked on the bed a little. So this guy can hold it 8 hours usually, but not 1 minute for me to get my clothes on. I know he drank a lot, but it's like his bladder fills up so fast, he can't hold it at all. Is this normal in a 4 month old puppy? I'm worried he's going to think going on the carpet is okay although the second time he knew I was really mad and went right in his crate when I pointed at it (of course I can't stay angry very long and he was back on the bed after about 15 minutes of me stewing). He hasn't had any accidents for about 6 weeks and this really surprised me.

Is it really strong smelling or normal smelling?

Kenzo had a bladder infection.....and it was strong. Could that be the problem?

He may not yet be 100% from his poorly tummy,
if he had a virus etc. is he still of the antibiotics?
Bless him

Actually, yes he is. I didn't think about that, but it might be the reason. I was just surprised by his sudden "leaky-ness". I mean there's no sniffing around or anything involved - he just lets loose. I can't believe he fills up so fast after only 30 minutes and after being out twice. I guess that means it's not marking behavior at least. This is my first male doggy and I admit I have nightmares about that.

Had a similar experience. Kavik was around 4 months old and hadn't peed in the house in weeks. He was walking towards the back door, and I was on the couch, he was no more than 4 feet from me and he turned his head while walking, looked at me and started peeing, sortof mid stride!? We scooped him up and he finished outside. He never did it again.
My only conclusion was he was running an experiment of some kind. eg.
Kavik thought - Hmmm, I think I have this peeing thing all sorted out: outside good, inside bad. Maybe I just better double check. Walks past mom, makes sure he has her attention and - TEST! Sure enough - outside good, inside bad. Glad I got that straigtened out. :D

Apparently my neighbor's Shiba used to do the same thing after playing and outgrew it, so I feel better now. I had to take him out 4 times in an one hour after he came home from there last night. :o
