Kiger Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 I've got a few minutes until I head off to the vet . I have no idea what is wrong with him. The night before last he came down with some diarrhea, kept getting me up all night until he finally puked and was okay after that. He was fine the next day - normal poops, kinda tired in the morning, but perked up later after he made up his sleep. Last night - same deal, terrible diarrhea, puke, fine again. He hasn't had any weird food or anything, but it did start up again after he went over to the neighbor's house to play with their dog (he does this every night). I don't know if he's getting into something over there or what. I did give him a Greenie two days ago, but if he swallowed a chunk wouldn't it have desolved by now? There isn't anything in the puke that I can see either. Oh well, I will let you guys know what the vet says. Poor Kato. :( Quote

mouseatthebusstop Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 poor little love, keep us posted Quote
Carolk9s Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Hoping pups problem is minor and diagnosed quickly and accurately! Waiting to hear news that he's better! Quote
eric Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Sorry to hear that. I hope everything will be ok. Try to eliminate anything new in his diet and see if it clears up. Quote
Kiger Posted December 18, 2002 Author Posted December 18, 2002 Well sheesh, it cost me $60 for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong with him. I had a feeling that that was going to be the case since he wiggled and jumped and played ball with everyone in the waiting room. Oh well, now I know I can rule out most things. So now I can only think it is one of three things: either he is getting into something over in the neighbor's backyard, or it's the wet food that he gets in the morning, (It's the only thing that's changed recently. I find it hard to believe that he eats it in the morning and it takes all day to churn him up, but I guess it could happen.) or he's just got some random bug that will clear up on it's own. They did give me some antibiotics just in case. I guess he's had a bad day since he didn't get any wet food, and strange people were poking at his butt. Quote
Kiger Posted December 18, 2002 Author Posted December 18, 2002 Oh yeah, and he only got dry food this morning so when my husband went downstairs where the pen is set up, he said Kato was laying with his head on the bowl looking at him.  Quote

He feels neglected. He didn't get his GOOD food today. Why are Mom and Dad being so mean to me??? Quote

Bensam Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Hope he's feeling better  Sometimes when I have had a dog/pup with an unexplained upset tummy, I will not give them anything to eat for about 12 hours then just a small portion to start off again. Sound cruel, and they will give you the most pathetic looks. If you have a tummy bug yourself, quite often a bit of a starve will let things settle down again. Just make sure there's plenty of water and ignore all the pleading. Might be worth a try. Quote
yellowlabsrule Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Poor guy :( , I hope he's feeling better. Quote
Hobbit Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Maybe it was just a 24 - 48 hr virus bug and now it's over. Hope he recovers and feels much better. Quote
deepseasnake Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 can you give a dog some pepto, alka selter or 7UP? Quote
Guest roo Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Get some live goat or sheeps milk yoghurt, i swear by it  it will help settle any naughty bugs in his tummy Quote
Kiger Posted December 19, 2002 Author Posted December 19, 2002 Oh yes, I gave him Pepto, but I didn't have a syringe and let's just say he doesn't appreciate the taste. So now he is covered in pink spots, as are the walls, the floor, and me. The vet gave me a syringe and he likes cherry flavored Imodium so he's getting that from now on. He's been fine since yesterday though. He's on antibiotics and probably just caught a stomach bug. He was quite hungry this morning. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 [quote name='Mei-Mei']I've arrived late! So glad to hear he's better. It was probably just a little bug or something. Be sure he's getting plenty of water so that he doesn't get dehydrated (which is what diarrhea does). :o You've been busy with those new pups! BTW....USB cord????? Quote
