Daisy will not leave the tree alone  Every day when I come home from work, my daughter has a new collection of ornaments she has taken from her!!! Next year I am getting a table top or, maybe she will outgrow it by then. She is 3 little

My brother had the same problem with his pup (he's 1) and they bought some cheap Hartz brand stuff to keep dogs away (like Bitter Apple). He hasn't touched the tree since!

Next year I am getting a table top one:

I have a table top optic-fiber tree in the porch. I covered a large box with silver wrapping paper glued a snow-man one the front put the tree on the top. When the dog go out they have to walk past it, I have lost count of the number of times it has been knocked on to the froor as they run past it

The first year I had my dog, she totally demolished a whole assortment of ornaments. Since then, we've only put ornaments on the top half of our tree (however, we put lights on it anyway so it doesn't look too bad) and it hasn't been too big of a problem since then, although there is the occasional slip! It seems as though as long as the ornaments aren't at her eye level, she doesn't go out of her way to get an ornament. However - the bitter apple idea was a good one, as most people don't like the idea of only decorating the top half of their tree!

My Sheltie,Dusty, went to the bathroom on our tree when we got it instead of wasting time scratching on the door :o Anyway after I punished him :evilbat: He has never done it again.

My tree is in a corner...On one side is the wall the other is the sofa so Jac cannot "mark" ... Ornaments--This year I decorated with blue and silver bows..Cheap but looks GREAT and so far Jac has not messed with them. I have left the other ornaments in a box put up for a time I know without a doubt he will not mess with the tree.

There is a product called "scat mat", www.scatmat.com, which is basically a mat with a number of wires embedded into it. When your dog steps on the mat, it gives him/her a mild electric shock.

You place it on the floor in an area you want to keep you pet away from, i.e.: in front of the X-mas tree, et voila.

Of course, how you feel about giving your dog electric shocks is a different matter...

Have you taught your dog "off"? I taught my dogs "off" at an early age and when we put the tree up the first time I let them explore it but gave them a stern "off" when they went to grab something. They haven't touched the tree since.
