Guest Anonymous Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 :agrue: I have a similar problem with our 17mo old English Bulldog attacking (unprovoked) our 12yr old Lhasa. All was well for about 13 months, then suddenly just seeing the Lhasa sends him into a ballastic rage. The next fight will kill the Lhasa. We're keeping them completely seperated(one behind a closed door) when the other is out. Would appreciate any help. We're desperate. Thanks, Marianne Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 First we can start with the sexes of the 2 dogs... Are they both boys or......? Quote
Mary's Mama Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 IMHO its sounds as though you have a dominance issue. Who is the alpha in your house?? It should be you. If you have established your dominance than you can teach the bulldog what his position in the pack is. You do this by making sure the Lhasa always comes first, fed first, treated first, out/in the door first, gets first dibbs on your lap. When ever the bulldog tries to pick a fight (you can usually see the posturing) you need to lunge toward him and make the most hideous sound you can. You need to teach him you are alpha and will not tolerate him picking on the lhasa. I have learned this from Jack Russells. They commonly have trouble with same sex aggression. Many families I know that have multiple bitches have experienced multiple fights and have overcome the troubles using these methods. Good luck! Quote
Mary's Mama Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 K - you are so right! I try to keep my posts concise and sometimes leave out important info. Thanks for your comments. Quote
deepseasnake Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 I would tend to agree as well with everyone so far, but I would like to hear more details about the first time an attack happened and what ever else there is to the story, details sometimes dont seem significant until they are placed in a pattern...
