Guest Anonymous Posted November 29, 2002 Posted November 29, 2002 That is such crap!!! It makes me soooo mad when people talk about things like this and they have no idea!! Grrr!!! I read in Dog World(I think it was), that they'd banned a few breeds(Dobies, Rotts, Pits, etc.)from being flown on the American Airlines because a dog had gotten out of it's crate and torn some of the luggage up... :evilbat: It could have just as easily been a Lab that had done it!! It just makes me soooo mad when people zero in on particular breeds. A Rotty or Doberman are savage because they are territorial - they will defend their space. A Pit Bull is not savage in that sense-just unpredictable. GRRRRR... 1st Rotts and Dobies aren't savage because of anything other than bad owners & bad breeding. I agree that these two breeds are more likely to be territorial than others, but the neighbor's dogs come over all the time, and we've never had a fight. I've had one of each and niether were any more aggressive or "savage" than our lab. I'm sure the same is true with pits! I could go on and on, but I'll stop ranting and raving for now... Quote
Bensam Posted November 29, 2002 Posted November 29, 2002 Would you know what Aussie paper this was in? Some States are waging war on Pit Bulls and wondered if this was from there. Quote
bk_blue Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Sounds like something out of the Herald Sun  The journo's name is familiar. Wouldn't surprise me if they printed crap like this. :x Quote

Aroura Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 There's so much I'd like to say, but I think its all been covered!!! I think it's appauling how it says they got a "cold heart" from Bull Mastiffs though, they are the most gentlest breed!!! Oh, and if they had such a cold heart, then why are'nt they banned? Surely they'd be able to kill people easily enough that there'd be a death or two every day from this massive, nasty "cold hearted" breed. I see "Pit Bulls" on TV every few months, of all shapes and sizes. Every time there is an attack its all over the news "Pit Bull mauled 10 year old child" etc, with images of these frightend looking mutts waiting to be put down. All a dog has to do to be considered a Pit these days is be medium to large in size, have a short coat, smiley face and to have attacked someone! I did want to say however, my tiny town of 20,000 people that nobody's ever heard of got a mention! [quote name='K']Chopper is a Pit Bull Terrier, the same breed of dog that mauled 76-year-old Toowoomba woman Barbara Stringer to death on December 27 last year. No the dog that killed Mrs. Stringer was NOT AN AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER. Attached is a statement from Terry Collicutt Manager of Toowoomba & District Society for the Prevention of Cruelty stating the dog not to be a Pit Bull Terrier but a cross Bull Breed of some sort. Further S. Collier, from the University of New England, Armidale was set to Identify the dog, but the Toowoomba council destroyed the body and were unable to give a reason WHY? Oh, and thats the university I'll be at next year, actually think I've even seen that Collier person on the local news. Quote
yellowlabsrule Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 That was HORRIBLE! Is that person a dog hater???!!! I don't believe it! Especially this part: From the Bull Mastiff they gained a cold heart, lack of emotion AAHH!! Quote
bk_blue Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 K, you might be pleased (??) to know the Queensland Courier Mail (who I think are owned by NewsCorp, ie. same as Herald Sun) does NOT have a very good reputation for quality accurate journalism. They get rubbished pretty much every week on Media Watch (TV show that picks on all the faults in the news, newspapers etc). Queensland is full of rednecks, racists and drunks anyway (yeah, and my mum is from Queensland so I feel qualified to say this LOL)... Quote
eggrolyn1223 Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 :evilbat:   UGH!!Makes me MAD!!!!!!!! Quote
Aroura Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Yeah, I agree with BK about Queenslanders.... what people in their right mind would drink xxxx???! :drinking: Oh, and they have Gordon Tallis as the head of their Rugby team. I could go on, but I'll stop already!  Anyway, what I wanted to say is in response to a comment on using the money to educate people... although they could be doing alot better job they have been pushing dog clubs to not just train dogs but to try to get the word out and educate the community on not only having obedient dogs, but also on basic dog care etc They're also cracking down with dogs on leads, microchips etc. Its a start I guess. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Yeah, why don't we all ask Shannon about her "cold hearted bull mastiff" Charlie. Shannon, how cold hearted is Charlie? What a joke. Quote
