I had to take Penny to the vet this afternoon.....she had a tiny spot at the bottom of her eye lid which i thought was a mole, just recently it had doubled in size and got me very worried so i took her in to see the vet who had a look and told me it was a cyst (well that put my mind at rest, thinking it was cancerous). I watched him squeeze the cyst at the back and gently rub it between his fingers then pull it off, Penny didnt flinch a bit....but her eye was pouring with blood which made me feel sick.....the nurse held some tissue against her eye to soak the blood up while the vet put some ointment on a clean piece to stop any infection getting in and then he put some eye drops in, she had to have an injection also. She as got to have Fucithalmic viscous eye drops applied to her eye twice daily across her eye. If there is any sign of redness or the cyst comes back within a week..she as got to go back and have an operation!

WISH ME LUCK FOLKS!!!

Glad Penny's eye seems to be better (I have a Penny, too!). Just keep an eye on it (no pun intended). I know someone with a Cocker Spaniel who had a cyst on his lower eyelid and had it removed. It grew back almost immediately after. On the bright side, they say it's harmless enough and it doesn't seem to bother him.

Good luck! :D

I hope Penny is ok and her cyst doesn't come back! Nobby (our Basset) had a cyst in the corner of her eye, but it wasn't doing her any harm and the vet said it was benign, so it just stayed there. :)
