I noticed about 2 days ago that MiMi's "area" has become puffy and larger, she is about 7 1/2 months old, is this just a normal growing stage?
It isnt bothering her at all, everything else is normal. any ideas?

Does sound like she is coming into season. Be VERY careful when taking her outside, I would keep her on a leash and not let her out of your site. Male dogs can be very persistant, creative and DETERMINED when a female in season is around. She's FAR too young to even consider making her have puppies. If you do plan on breeding her in the future, learn as much as you can about it first.
If you dont want to put her through having puppies, talk to your vet about having her spayed as soon as she is through with her season. There are many health benefits to having her spayed, your vet can discuss these in detail with you.
Plus YOU will be part of the solution to the pet overpopulation problem but not making your little girl have puppies.

Oh yeah...we were planning on having both our male and female altered on the same day, but Kika came into heat a little early....so, Kenzo went in. When she was ready to accept him, he had been altered for 4 days and STILL went ahead and did the dutie in front of us as we were "trying" to watch TV! :o

Well, Kenzo was fixed in March....We were IN a panic cuz this was Kika's first heat cycle since the pups and did NOT want another litter or have her pregnant. Called the vet the next morning and she said that with in 24 hours after surgery, he should have urinated all sperm out! Whew. :o

Ya knew where I was going with that question didn't you? 8)
I had heard there was a very brief time span after neutering that the male could still have viable sperm but was not at all sure of how long it was.
Glad your panic was short-lived!

Yes, it was quite a panic, but thankfully they did the deed on a Sunday night so I could call first thing Monday morning!
