Rowie-the-Pooh Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002  Ok, feel totally stuuuuuuuuuuupid here, but I have just gotta ask! Ok, what does ROWIE mean?? :drinking: WAIT lemme explain! :o Ok, when we where at Rowie's previouse(sp?) house meeting her, I asked her owner what her name was. He said Rowie. So I said Rosie? And he said no, Rowie. So, I was like "WHAT THE HEl*" Cuz I had never heard of that name before...So, I just assumed that maybe he made it up, or his kids did. Or maybe she was ment to be Rosie but they said Rowie by mistake and she responded to it better than Rosie. Anyways, up until about a week ago( ) I thought it was made up and stuff, but when I typed in ROWIE in google(Just for fun) I got results! There where companies and stuff! A man was named Rowie! Then, when I went to www.neopets.com and joined as Rowie123 it was taken! :o I thought I was the only owner of a dog named Rowie in the world( :( too bad, I felt really special) and was dumbfounded! :o Anyway, been meaning to ask you guys for a looooong time but keep forgetting! :x Oh, and it's not that I don't like the name! I LOVE it! It's sooo unique ya'know? It matches her sooooooooo well! It's kinda like a name that's hyper you know? I mean, she's hyper, fun loving adventures etc.etc. and the name seems to say it all! :D I wouldn't chose any other name fo her! :D Anyway, THANX! :D Please don't think I'm too dumb! :D  Quote
wildbunch Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 Hi Rowie, Out of shear curiousity I did a search on the name Rowie. I now know that there are quite a few famous people with that name but also found one meaning. ROWIE: A rowie is the Aberdeen version of a butterie (a rich bread roll made with butter). The name is of scottish origin. LOL. Couldn't find anything else. Quote

cairnmom Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 I like word origins. Here is what I found: Scottish Food : Butterie or Rowie is a bread roll made of a high fat, croissant-like dough. Popular in the north-east and can be referred to as an "Aberdeen Morning Roll". Delicious warm with even more butter but likely to fur up the arteries! I also so it used as a nickname for Rosaleen. It seems to be a Scottish surname as well. Jessica Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted November 30, 2002 Author Posted November 30, 2002 Thanx Cairnmom! :D But what stumps me is WHY the owner named her Rowie? I mean she doesn't look like a bread roll does she? I mean, out of all the names in the world, he chose Rowie! LOL! I'm glad, I LOVE HER NAME! :D Thanx again guys! :D Quote
wildbunch Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Hey Rowie, Here's a really silly question: You have the cutest sneakest golden in the world but why a picture of a sheltie in your info? Was just curious why you don't put Rowie's picture there. Do you have more than one dog? I feel silly but I had to ask. Quote
