Guest Anonymous Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 Today I went to the park with my mom, sister, and brother. I took Ricochet with me and I had him on a leash. When I got there some other people were there with their dog. They had a leash but not on the dog. That dog comes running up to me and Ricochet and starts growling. So the people call him over to them and he goes. For awhile then he comes back to me. So they call him again and he goes back then he starts chasing a kid and barking and growling. So the kids dad told them they need to put their dog on a leash so they did. Next thing I know that dog is back over by me. Then they get him and put him on the leash and left him on it. This is NOT a dog park. It actually says no dogs allowed but they do not enforce it. Some people think their dogs wouldn't hurt anyone and expect other people to put up with them. My dog might not be mean but I wouldn't take a chance and I don't expect other people to put up with him so he is always on a leash when I walk him. Quote
Shannon_C Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 I agree with you that all dogs should be kept on leads especially where people are concerned, they will chase anything that moves which can be serious if an adult or child were to get bitten....but some fools dont realise or couldn't careless....its something you have to try and avoid.....go to another park that allows dogs, you might find one with more mature adults who keep there dogs on leads. When i take my dogs to the park i keep the Bullmastiff on a lead because when he sees anyone in sight, (be it a dog or person)...he is off like a rocket, he only wants some fuss or to play but the size of him frightens people unless they know the breed (especially when he charges towards them), once he gets closer he will suddenly stop (but it is scary having a 9 stone Bullmastiff come running at full speed towards you  he as calmed down a lot now)....but when i think its clear in the distance i let him off and he goes bounding round the field. The other two dogs of mine a Westie mix and Border Collie mix don't bother anyone...they keep to themselves. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 Yes there is alot of stupid people out there. Most of the people here are teenagers that are irresponsible dog owners. There was a gang of teens here one time at this same park that had a Pitbull and was telling it to attack people. Some people just don't deserve dogs. I am a teenager myself but I am a responsible one. Quote
Shannon_C Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 Yes, kids do stupid things usually to show off in front of there friends. Do you know any other parks locally ? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 I know of 4 other parks but this one is about 2-3 blocks from my house. The others are a few miles and I do not have my car running yet. When I get it running and licensed I will be taking them to the lake and lake park! :D Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 There are some irresponsble dog owners :( I think most of us have met them while we have been out. I always have mine on a lead because they would run to other people for a fuss and not all people like dogs some are afraid :( Quote
