Guest Anonymous Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 hi i have 3 new puppies. i got 2 last week one male one female. they get alone fine. we got a third one from the same litter a few days ago. when all three are together they fight.. not horribly bad but it gets pretty heated. if there is just two together they are fine, no matter what two it is. is there a way to have them all get along.? i dont know where to get rid of one if i do have to. they are 8 weeks old., half rat terrier half sheltie. they are very smart. pretty much house broken and can sit and lay down after three days of training. hubby is pushing to get rid of one dog. at first we had the two but a friend of my daughters wanted one puppy but found out after a day shes alergic to dogs. that dayw e got rid of it we went to get anotehr one. well now we have all three. any help in helping me to get them to allg et along would be great. thanks Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 thanks bunches i sent it. i was having the darndest time with it lol Quote
gooeydog Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 Make sure you give each of the pups time away from the other pups, or you can end up with problems later in life. Some that I have heard of/seen are: the dogs bonding closer to each other than to you (which can cause behavior problems down the line), or the dogs having problems when they need to be seperated for some reason (I guess technically this would be a behavior problem). This can be done by taking one someplace with you while the others stay home, or just giving them time to be seperate in your house. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 i have been separating them and spening time with them alone with me or in a group of just two, or all three. kinda mixing it up throught out the day. they seem to like it when they get some alone time with mom Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 ok im still having the same problem of hte puppies fighitng. the first female we got is the worst. its not against just one or the other but both other dogs. when all three are together boy does it hit the fan lol. she chases them until they both take off and hide. now the other female is starting to get going the same way. she is starting to bark alot at the other dogs and starting to fight with them when before she was very timid and quiet. im starting to think that jd is a bad influace on daisy lol. poor tyson the male is just happy to let the girls fight it out and stay out of the fray unless they drag him into it. boy its getting loud around here lol. well not that it wasnt loud anyway. i have 7 kids so adding three barking puppies in not realy a big deal as far as noise goes :o). i have tried to separate them but im wondering if im doing it to much and they need to figure out whos the top dog so to speak. i think they know its me then tyson but between the girls is a free for all at times. the only time they try to take on tyson is together LOL. sounds like me and my older sis when we were young. my daughter who is jd;s mommy has her with her all the time upstairs. she sleeps with her . the other two sleep in the crate . is there a way to let them work out the to dog buisness without letting it get out of hand. and how far is out of hand anyway lol??
