Does anyone here have some recipes for making dog treats? Our dogs aren't real crazy about treats, so maybe if I make some with things that actually taste good, they'll be a little more interested... then again, it could end in disaster as we evacuate the dogs from the flaming kitchen

1 cup whole wheat flour.
1/4 cup soy flour
1/2 tsp bone meal
1 egg-lightly beaten
1/3 cup milk
2 tbls wheat germ
1/3 cup powdered milk
1 tblsp unsulphured molasses
2 tbls butter/veg oil/ chicken fat

Preaheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix dry ingredients toghether. Add molasses, egg, oil and milk. Roll out flat onto oiled cookie sheet and cut into small, bite-sized pieces(or use cookie cutter). Bake for 20 minutes. If the cookie's are not hard enough, leave them in the oven with the heat turned off for an hour or as long as desired. Let cool and store tightly sealed container.

Enjoy!

Make sure the biscuits are human edible, just in case the dog doesn't like---at least you'll have a snack!

The job search --- yes chin up, fingers crossed for you, too. Have you ever noticed that there are millions of jobs posted but when you call or email -- the know NOTHING about the posted job! :o

Our dogs don't hide, they all stand by the door and wait for the smoke to billow out, at which point they converge on the oven, I pull out the blackened mass of whatever-I was-trying-to-cook and drop it on the floor for them to eat
newfiemom, I'm sure your dogs are in no hurry for you to go back to work... do you think maybe they've been hiding all the good job leads?

There are almost NO telecommunication jobs out there other than entry level positions. I check all the time too, Newfiemom, just cuz I'm tired of the BS here. I live in a city of telecommunications! Another call center in town is closing 12/31.......that's how bad it's getting.

Here's an easy one. Cut them up while they are warm, tehn store them in the freezer cuz for some reason they don't last long. My babies love them frozen!

1 lb chicken livers
1 cup flour
1 cup corn meal
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Egg

Put chicken livers and liquid in blender, liquify. Add egg, and mix. Pour into bowl. Add flour, corn meal and garlic powder. Mix. Spray jelly roll pan with pam. Pour mixture into pan. Bake 15 minutes in 400 degree hot oven. Cut into small squares while still warm.

Hmm... a lot of the recipes say to use blenders.... I see I'm going to have to beg for permission to use someone elses, since last year ours got a bit crazed and had to be disabled :o

One treat that my dogs love and I use quite often is liver. I buy the frozen pre-sliced beef liver and let it defrost a little....enough to be able to pull the slices apart but, not enough to let it start getting all "mushy" and difficult to handle. Drop the slices into a large pot of boiling water. Boil for about 20 minutes. Remove from pot and dry the slices. Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil and place dried slices on it. Bake about 20 minutes on each side at 250 degrees. (Yeah, turn them over.) The stuff will come out looking like shoe leather but, the dogs will love it. It's dry so, there's little mess in a pocket or bait bag. It's also very easy to break small pieces off of to use for training. One thing you do have to consider is that if your dogs are not accustomed to liver they may get the "trots" from too much of it. My dogs are fed a BARF diet so, they have sufficient natural enzymes in their systems to handle liver.
