mouseatthebusstop Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 :( we had paddy in a show today he did not get anywhere. when he is in the ring (only in the ring) he shakes his head as if there is something in his ear, his ears are clean and fine he also does it sometimes at ringcraft. we are new to showing this was only his third show any-one got any idea why? :o Quote
Guest roo Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 It could be the show lead or collar, what sort do you use to show with, if i use a certain collar on Pud in the ring he always scratches like hes got fleas or something. i tried a different lead and collar and no more scratching  Roo Ps what show did you go to? mouseatthebusstop Posted November 4, 2002 Author Posted November 4, 2002 I was useing an ajustible half correction coller. at ring craft he was shaking his head someone said try another coller. yesterday he had a leather combi, the coller had the half correction chain on it. It cannot be fleas I use frontline, we are thinking it might be nerves but he does enjoy people talking and making a fuss of him out-side the ring Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Wow, Mouse I never knew you showed your dogs! Or is it just Paddy that you show? I know next to NOTHING ('cept that the dogs are sure perdy! :D ) about dog showing, so you'll haveta teach me somethings some day! :D Did you try asking your vet, or a behaviorist about the head shaking? I'm sure someone out there must have the answer! I doubt he's doing it "just for fun"! Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted March 5, 2003 Author Posted March 5, 2003 the head shaking is stress. that show was in a small hall all the dogs were very close together. We arrived on the last minute. Whch did not help. That was the only time he did not get placed. At some other shows he got places because there were only a few dogs in his class Gladis is not show qualty but I have shown her in a few small shows just for fun. :D Quote
