I've been bitten a few times. First time, think it was our dog Pepper who wandered over and got into a fight with the neigbors Irish Setter males, both of them. He didn't care, he jumped 'em both! Luckily a friend was with me, we got the dogs separated, I took Pepper (who was not supposed to be loose in the front anyway!) home. I had a bite on the back of my hand, cleaned it up and that was that.
2nd bite was at another time, the older male Irish Setter got really mad because he had to wait his turn to go outside, grabbed my bare foot and bit me hard. Please don't crucify me, I was MUCH younger at the time, I beat the crap outta him. Looking back and knowing what I know I can see where his aggression was 'allowed' to build and I was in the wrong place at the time. But when he literally savaged my foot, I saw red (also literally) and smacked him pretty darned hard upside the head. He lunged at me again, I clocked him again. He thought it over and decided to back off. Good thing cause I was ready to kill him.
3rd bite, my own fault, I was teasing my sheltie, she nailed in the nose, I said please let go of my nose sweetie and I will stop teasing you! She did and I did. She was not punished because I knew I brought it on.
4th bite was from Jesse. I was brushing his teeth, he did not like it. At one point he looked me dead in the eye and then bit down on my finger. Hurt like hell. I cuffed him LIGHTLY upside the head and told him if he bit me again I'd pop him again. He's never deliberately bitten me again.
5th bite, Jesse. Totally my stupidity, playing with him with a paper towel roll, got the brilliant idea to slip it over my fingers. DUH. He bit me to the bone. Of course no punishment to him for my dumbness.
Heck there are probably more that I have forgotten about.

I have been bitten by my friends Boxer. I walked in the yard and he bit me. Not hard but their was a little blood.
I have been bitten by my brothers Heeler/Pitbull. I put on some big pants and he attacked me (well actually the pants but got my leg too). I think someone teenager had beatin him. I know little kids and a grownup did.
I have been bitten by my dog Ricochet. He doesn't like his tail and feet to be touched. :o Some kids used to pull his tail and step on his feet on purpose.
I had a Heeler mix that attacked my cousin. When she was little my mom and I had gone to the store. When we got back our neighbors were putting her back in the fence. They said some kids took her out of our fence and took her to the creek and threw a matress on her and was trying to drown her. As she got older she didn't like kids and one day my cousin picked up a board and she jumped in his face and attacked him. He was bleeding all over by his eye. She was afraid she was going to get beat with it.
I've never been bitten bad though. Now cat bites thats different I have scars on my hands from them and I think I would still pick up another wild one.
I'm not scared to get bitten from animals. If they bite you they have a reason to bite you. People here see dogs and start running and yelling. I just stand there and look at the dog and tell it to go on or I just keep going but then again I've never really been attacked by one. Maybe then it would be a different story.
One of our neighbors dogs came running out at me one nite. I just looked at it and keep going. He started nipping me on the heels and I told him to get and he took off.

I have been around dogs all my life, (and it's a long one!). The only time I have been really bitten, drawing blood, was, believe it, when judging chihuahua's at a show one day I had one latch on to my thumb sinking it's teeth down beside the nail, hence the copious blood flow. Little devil would not let go, much to the exhibitor's horror. It hurt like h..ll, and there was me putting on a brave face while inwardly wanting to kill the little monster :x . Guess I've been lucky as over the years I've had some nasty ones to deal with, particularly when I had the grooming business.

I think I've told my dog bite story a couple times before so I'll just give a short version

this "challenged" kid's Dad managed to get a police dog off of doggie death row for killing a criminal or something and gave the dog to the kid because he was getting beat up on an almost daily basis. Me and my brother were friends with the kid and he used to come to the park behind my house. My brother was play fighting the thing right before I went up to pet it (it was first time the kid took it outside) upon my approach it leaped up and flattened me locked on my right bicep and just tore in. I was only like 8 or 9 at the time so I thought I was gonna die. Anyway I was afraid of all dogs but my own for like a year or two. I still have a GSD jaw line that runs up my right arm to.

honestly I dont really fear dogs either, unless its crazy looking or its an akita. but even then if it really came down to it I'd beat the sh!t out of a dog if it attacked me, my dog or a family member

I was minding my own business. Walking out my front door when my upstairs neighbor came bounding down the stairs with his yappy beagle. That little brat bit me right in the back of my knee. It hurt like H**L! I went back into the house and told my father what happened and he flipped on the owner. The thing was...the owner knew that the dog was anti-social and my father was furious that he didn't keep that dog on a tighter leash. Frankly, so was I!

I have never been bitten by any of my own dogs, but I have been nipped by a couple of groom clients. I guess when I think about how many dogs a year I handle, it's a wonder I haven't ever had a serious bite, or more nips. Only one time did it draw blood at all and even then I had to squeeze and pry at it to get that one drop of blood.

Maybe I'm not putting a major curse on myself by saying this. It'll be my luck that I'll have my face chewed off tomorrow by some longtime regular that I would never expect it from. :-?

Hubby did get bitten once and six stitches in his hand plus IV antibiotics when he tried to pull a little Beagle out of our (long time ago) Bulldog's mouth (he was a fighting Pit rescue, so VERY dog aggressive, but contained in our yard... the Beagle was roaming). Our dog had the Beagle about like an alligator and was shaking him like a rag doll. My husband grabbed the Beagle to pull it out of our dog's mouth and the unappreciative little $#@! nailed him. Nasty bite. Nothing to do with anything, but can you believe that the Beagle owner had the nerve to talk junk to us and threaten us for "letting" our dog attack his in OUR OWN yard? :x

Never been bitten but THOUGHT I was going to get my face torn off by my neighbor's golden X.

I live in an apartment complex, which must be the only one in town that allows dogs, because almost everyone has at least one. I was sitting outside my door on my little patio chair. The neighbor comes out with the golden on a flexi-lead (one of the worst inventions ever thought of by man). The dog takes one look at me and leaps to within 6 inches of my face, growling, snaping snarling. I had the good sense to sit still, while the owner managed to lock that stupid leash and pull the dog back.

And what did the owner say to me? "oh, sorry, he does that all the time, but he'd never actually bite anyone" :o

I think the funniest thing is my rott and the pits that live here are by far the best behaved, most obedient, friendliest dogs in the complex. So much for popular opinion

I've never been bitten by a dog, but as someone else said I've probably cursed myself by saying that now! BK has "play" bitten me on my ankles very gently, it is his way of getting the last word in as I go in the back door if he is feeling hyper or playful. So does that count? Also one time I was bending down to greet him as he was running over to me and he decided to jump up, our heads collided and his tooth got me in the lip... but it was an accident (well I think... LOL). A friend's kelpie tried to have a go at me once when we were on the couch, I was patting him and fussing over him and I think he'd had enough and tried to nip me, I saw it coming and got out of the way (so I think that was my fault). Unfortunately he was put down a few yrs later for biting their baby daughter. :(

Jamie- I guess with some rotty and pit owners like yourself, they know their dogs have bad reputations (which is stupid, but that's the way it is), so they do their best to bring their dogs up properly to set a good example. I have sometimes noticed a misconception that little dogs don't need to be trained when they need it just as much as a big dog... IMO the small dogs I know are much more inclined to bite and bark and carry on more so than bigger dogs.

The only dog bite I've ever received was courtesy of my mother's psychotic man-eating Pekingese. He HATED to be groomed,so I was the lucky one that got THAT task, and he would bite me every chance he got. He came SO close to becoming a "furry football" on more than one occasion  He lived to be 18 yrs old and got crankier and more unmanageable every year....I haven't been a huge fan of the Toy breeds ever since
