Guest Anonymous Posted October 30, 2002 Posted October 30, 2002 I just got back from lunch and saw a cool looking dog! It was all black, kinda reminded me of a newfie(face and coat), but not as BIG...and looked like it was a basset body!!! Short legs and same body size! Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 LOL! :D OK, I wasn't gonna reply to this post cuz I didn't know of any "wierd" mixes....BUT I remmembered one....on Sat when I took Rowie to her FIRST obedience class, the Puppy class had just finished, and this girl had a BALL OF FUR on lead, and the ball of FUR was BARKING! I thought I was seeing things, so I went up close, and realized it WAS a dog, a very FURRY dog, and gosh it was soooooooo round, and it wouldn't stop BARKING!!!!!!!!!!! :o I tried to look for eyes, but couldn't find any! It was REALLY wierd! :-? :D Ok, I posted this pic before, but I guess I will again....... http://www.geocities.com/t-aarf/arfimage/lanah.jpg " class="ipsImage" alt=""> Look at those ears! :o Hehe.... :D Quote
Hobbit Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 I found this picture and they said it's a "Dwarf Malamute" --- hum, looks suspiciously like a Malamute/Basset cross. What do you think? It could be a dwarf...... :o Then found this one, it a Husky/GSD cross --- absolutely beautiful, and up for adoption in California. I mean, this is a beautiful bitch. This is a cross between a Shar Pei and a Terry Cloth towel....  Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 31, 2002 Author Posted October 31, 2002 HOLY CRAP my Malina is gonna go NUTS when I show her that pei, I can practically already hear the high pitched squeel  Quote
science_doc Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 I hate to say this, but the Malamute/Basset cross is cute  Quote
Carolk9s Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Dwarf Malamute, Malamute/bassett, perhaps Malumute Corgie? :D I don't see any bassett in that adorable short legged dog. Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 31, 2002 Author Posted October 31, 2002 I think it looks disturbing :o Quote
Hobbit Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Well, maybe it is a "Dwarf Mala-mut". He's cute anyway, in a "short" sort of way. Quote
Smooshie Posted November 1, 2002 Posted November 1, 2002  ....oh now that is wayyy too cute. Its a good thing the towel and the Pei aren't the same color or we wouldn't know where the towel ends and the dog begins.... Quote

cairnmom Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Not to give anyone ideas, but here are some funny "mixes" I came across: Pointer + Setter = Poinsetter, a traditional Christmas pet Kerry Blue Terrier + Skye Terrier = Blue Skye, a dog for visionaries Great Pyrenees + Dachshund = Pyradachs, a puzzling breed Pekingnese + Lhasa Apso = Peekasso, an abstract dog Irish Water Spaniel + English Springer Spaniel = Irish Springer, a dog fresh and clean as a whistle Labrador Retriever + Curly Coated Retriever = Lab Coat Retriever, the choice of research scientists Newfoundland + Basset Hound = Newfound Asset Hound, a dog for financial advisors Terrier + Bulldog = Terribull, a dog prone to awful mistakes Bloodhound + Labrador = Blabador, a dog that barks incessantly Malamute + Pointer = Moot Point, owned by....oh, well, it doesn't matter anyway Collie + Malamute = Commute, a dog that travels to work Deerhound + Terrier = Derriere, a dog that's true to the end Cocker Spaniel + Rottweiller = Cockrot, the perfect puppy for that philandering ex-husband Bull Terrier + Shitzu = Bullshitz, a gregarious but unreliable breed    Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 Quick note: Pointer and English Setter crosses are actually called "drop" pups and can make extremely good bird dogs!! Of course this is due to the fact that both breeds are birdy! I do not know of any breeders that try to breed them (thaks goodness) but at least they are not shipped to the shelter as they have a purpose and job which they do very well! :) Love your post cairnmom! :D Quote

I think it was on the APL channel. I'm not sure, as I was surfing and it caught my eye. It was GREAT. The dogs were wonderful and well trained --- so beautiful. I'm a closet bird-dog lover! And a closet GSD lover, and a closet....oh heck! I just love dogs! Quote
