I just got back from lunch and saw a cool looking dog! It was all black, kinda reminded me of a newfie(face and coat), but not as BIG...and looked like it was a basset body!!! Short legs and same body size!

LOL! :D OK, I wasn't gonna reply to this post cuz I didn't know of any "wierd" mixes....BUT I remmembered one....on Sat when I took Rowie to her FIRST obedience class, the Puppy class had just finished, and this girl had a BALL OF FUR on lead, and the ball of FUR was BARKING! I thought I was seeing things, so I went up close, and realized it WAS a dog, a very FURRY dog, and gosh it was soooooooo round, and it wouldn't stop BARKING!!!!!!!!!!! :o I tried to look for eyes, but couldn't find any! It was REALLY wierd! :-? :D

Ok, I posted this pic before, but I guess I will again.......

I found this picture and they said it's a "Dwarf Malamute" --- hum, looks suspiciously like a Malamute/Basset cross. What do you think? It could be a dwarf...... :o

Then found this one, it a Husky/GSD cross --- absolutely beautiful, and up for adoption in California. I mean, this is a beautiful bitch.

This is a cross between a Shar Pei and a Terry Cloth towel....

Carolk9s napisaƂ(a):
Dwarf Malamute, Malamute/bassett, perhaps Malumute Corgie? :D I don't see any bassett in that adorable short legged dog.

I thought Corgi before I read bassett....but I see Corgi in everything  . The muzzle looks very corgi to me.

But that Pei....man that is CUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!! Even if it is crossed with a towel.

Not to give anyone ideas, but here are some funny "mixes" I came across:
Pointer + Setter =
Poinsetter, a traditional Christmas pet

Kerry Blue Terrier + Skye Terrier =
Blue Skye, a dog for visionaries

Great Pyrenees + Dachshund =
Pyradachs, a puzzling breed

Pekingnese + Lhasa Apso =
Peekasso, an abstract dog

Irish Water Spaniel + English Springer Spaniel =
Irish Springer, a dog fresh and clean as a whistle

Labrador Retriever + Curly Coated Retriever =
Lab Coat Retriever, the choice of research scientists

Newfoundland + Basset Hound =
Newfound Asset Hound, a dog for financial advisors

Terrier + Bulldog =
Terribull, a dog prone to awful mistakes

Bloodhound + Labrador =
Blabador, a dog that barks incessantly

Malamute + Pointer =
Moot Point, owned by....oh, well, it doesn't matter anyway

Collie + Malamute =
Commute, a dog that travels to work

Deerhound + Terrier =
Derriere, a dog that's true to the end

Cocker Spaniel + Rottweiller =
Cockrot, the perfect puppy for that philandering ex-husband

Bull Terrier + Shitzu =
Bullshitz, a gregarious but unreliable breed

Quick note: Pointer and English Setter crosses are actually called "drop" pups and can make extremely good bird dogs!! Of course this is due to the fact that both breeds are birdy! I do not know of any breeders that try to breed them (thaks goodness) but at least they are not shipped to the shelter as they have a purpose and job which they do very well! :)

Love your post cairnmom! :D

Way off topic, here....but did you see the show on bird dogs the other day? I think it was on the APL channel. I'm not sure, as I was surfing and it caught my eye. It was GREAT. The dogs were wonderful and well trained --- so beautiful. I'm a closet bird-dog lover! And a closet GSD lover, and a closet....oh heck! I just love dogs!
