[quote name='Mei-Mei']Egg,
You said we knew nothing about Taiwan and dogs, so I looked it up. Apparently dogs have it pretty poor there. As a matter of fact, Taiwan was stated to be the worst place in the world for animals. I've included the link for those who are interested.

http://www.geocities.com/~t-aarf/main.html

But saying that I will also say that though Taiwan may be a horrible place for dogs, there are certainly people there who want to help families care for their dogs properly. Contact the people at the above link, and see if they can provide you with any help or information. Maybe they have a Doggie Daycare that people can bring their pets to. Or maybe you can give them the idea and help them to start one. :)

thank you Mei Mei
Thats one link, it looks good.

Egg I was talking about Mary she was an absolute terror. I can give you the respect for at least sticking around even though your first thread here was a bit "real" for a kid in your shoes. That is actually a big thing to be able to shun something like that. I'm not TRYING to be mean and I'm not personaly attacking YOU I dont care who you are or where you live I'd say the same things as I do to you. If you come to talk with the adults I'm gonna break you off like one when it comes down to it.

The worst thing you can do is leave this site, in essance i'm willing to bet were all you have in the support section. So dont get all in a knot, just step back and view the problem with the "big picture" in mind. Admitt that Duck isnt in a very healthy place and then WE can ALL help you with a solution. But as long as you fight for duck to stay in the position she's in I will bombard you with common sense until you start making sense and we can fix the problem.

Egg I dont HATE you and you shouldnt really care if I did, I just think you are acting incredibly foolish and inmature. I'm not a mother I'm not a woman and not terribly tolerant when it comes to animals. I give you my view because its my job to state and sometimes overstate the obvious. There are a TON of mothers on this board that are into petting you till it feels better and making you get all warm inside, I do the opposite, I'd rather throw you over board to teach you how to swim

I agree with Sasha and Deep. Egg stay if you want to; if not, that is your choice. If you want our help, fine; if not, that's okay. Please don't expect us to sugar coat anything, because that is not the solution.

Pity-party? Hum...sounds more like someone who gets their way....ALOT.

Corgi hit the nail on the head with her post. Your dad agreed to let you have Duck, not because HE wanted a dog, but because YOU wanted one (or kept begging or bugging him for one) and promised to take care of her ---- NOT understanding the hugh responsibility you were taking on.

My opinion is that Duck is not being treated with the respect she deserves. You complain about how other people have their dogs in cages all day ---- YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THEY ARE. Duck is a baby and by standing (living) on wire all the time, her tendons and ligaments are paying the price for your selfishness. She will not be able to walk properly without proper exercise. Her feet will become sore from standing on wire for 16 hours a day. I rescued a Kelpie that spent the first 12 months of her life in a wire cage. When I got her, she could only stand up for a few minutes at a time. Her stance was crouched down, not being used to the weight on her legs and sore feet. It took a solid YEAR for her to be able to stand correctly ---- which she NEVER was able too. She was NEVER able to run, she could only walk fast.

My patience has run out. This baby is being abused, period. I didn't mean to upset the rest of the members. My heart aches for Duck.

Also, we should all want her to stay. If she doesn't, she will be left to figure things out for herself--which hasn't worked yet. If she stays, we can help her--advice or even help find a home for Duck. Egg's not evil, just young and learning. If we bail on her, she'll never learn. She's a baby just as much as Duck--we need to help them!

Connie

Egg, please stay. I like you--really do--and also want to help with Duck.

Sorry to enter this debate at such a dead end stage- didn't really know what to say, it's all been said really- but you've got to do what's best for your dog... Having never been to Taiwan I don't know what the best thing is, from what I have *read* it's a pretty shocking place for them. I feel for Duck, because ultimately she is the one who is going to suffer.
I do know a crate is no place for any sort of dog to spend its life. I do know that Taiwan has an entrenched culture of dog "neglect", which most Taiwanese people seem to think is fine and some, like yourself, want to change. I do know the best place you will get advice is on this board, so by leaving you're only hurting your precious Duck, not us, and it won't help to start sooking (even though your situation is very difficult and you're young compared to us oldies). We can help you if you want us to help you. But if you act like a child you'll get treated like one (Mum's favourite line)

I agree in the past we have had members who, when something
that was said that they didn't like said thats it im leaving.
I also agree that we shouldn't pamper to pity partys(never theard this phrase before)
But i think that this issue is totally different, Egg needs help and advice,
Egg will be returning to the USA in a years time and will be bringing Duck back with her. They will then stay in America, together.
After searching around the web and reading about how animals are kept out there, i realise how awful it must be to see the neglect and cruelty
on a daily basis.
From what i can gather Duck comes from a laboratory
God alone knows what would have happened to her.
Egg is upset, the truth hurts, but, she is trying to get something sorted
out. she is going to get a pen made in the garden with a grass area for duck to live in during the day.
What height do you think it should be? size? shelter? any other ideas?
